Purple Summers came to her senses, paused, and swallowed the food in her mouth.
“It’s nothing… I was just thinking about Lindsay Carpenter, her tumor has spread. Even with the money, it seems the surgery has only a fifty percent success rate.”
Purple sighed, looking somewhat disheartened, “If the surgery is successful, I really hope she can change her job. It’s such a waste to risk her life again in such a high-risk job after barely making it through this time.”
After she finished speaking, she took a bite of her food and murmured to herself, “Forget it… everyone has their own way of living, and I have no right to tell others how to live their lives. Let her be!”
Then she continued to bury her head in her meal.
Alexander chuckled as he ruffled her hair, “What are you always thinking about in that little head of yours? You’re so concerned about others’ lives; you might as well pay more attention to your own.”
Purple raised her head, smiling cheerfully at him, “Because I have you to care for me, I have the capacity to care for others.”
Lately, her sweet talk was getting sweeter.
After finishing their meal in good spirits, they returned to the hotel and called Atra Blanc to book the plane tickets to return to Clearwater the next morning.
The next day, no sooner had Purple and Alexander Summers left the hotel than someone arrived right after them.
“What?!” Caitlin Carter exclaimed in surprise and disappointment, “They’ve left already?”
The receptionist at the hotel smiled and said, “Yes, they checked out early in the morning.”
“I see, thank you…” Caitlin managed a faint smile and walked out of the hotel feeling dejected.
Her bodyguard opened the car door for her, and Caitlin got in. The driver asked, “Madam, shall we go back now?”
Caitlin sat in silence for a long while, then gently shook her head and gave the name of another hotel, planning to meet Marcel Jefferson there.
Although the case was over, Marcel couldn’t leave immediately. He had to handle some final matters with the Brown Family’s lawyer, such as the issue of compensation payment, so he would leave Kingsley a few days after Purple.
Caitlin had never appeared in public media, so Marcel didn’t recognize her. Upon meeting her, he only felt that the lady was gentle, dignified, and exuded both grace and elegance.
“Mr. Jefferson, I went to the address you gave to find Ms. Summers, but she had already left!” Caitlin was anxious as she spoke to Marcel, “Can you help me get in touch with her?”
Marcel tried calling Purple’s phone, but it was unreachable.
“She’s probably about to board, so her phone is off,” Marcel reassured her, “Mrs. Carter, don’t worry. I will talk to her when I return to Clearwater.”
“Will Ms. Summers be unwilling to take my younger brother’s case?” Caitlin clung to a glimmer of hope. Letting go now would be too painful to bear, “Mr. Jefferson, can Ms. Summers win this lawsuit?”
“This…” Marcel looked troubled, “To be honest, I don’t know if Ms. Summers will take the case… she’s usually very busy with her studies and is preparing for the judicial examination. I had her take over Ms. Carpenter’s case because I was really at my limit.”
His implication was clear; Purple was very busy.
Caitlin became even more anxious.
She had gone out of her way to attend Lindsay’s trial, and although it was not a public hearing, the Carter Family had some connections in the judicial institution, making it easy for her to secure a seat.
Just as the trial began, a witness unexpectedly recanted, astonishing Caitlin. She thought the case was lost! During the recess, she felt a pang of disappointment: Today was a wasted trip!

Caitlin had an epiphany, and immediately realized that Purple was the key. But the girl was after all just a teenager, and even if Caitlin trusted her, what about the rest of the Carter Family?
