Fortunate to Have You This Lifetime Chapter 723

Chapter 723: Chapter 723 They’re All Back_1

“The flowers are quite beautiful,” Alexander said as he saw the lilies of the valley in her hands. He casually assumed they were a gift from a classmate to Purple Summers.

Purple took the white rose from his hands and lowered her head as she got into the car.

Perhaps it was a coincidence. She wasn’t sure, but once she started associating them that way, the bouquet she held felt like a hot potato, uncomfortable in her grasp.

Alexander said, “Mom made a table full of dishes you love and even bought a cake to celebrate for you. Next year, how about we move to Kingsley? After you graduate from the Judicial Training Institute, we can move back to Clearwater.”

“I would miss seeing Zara and Jane McCain,” Purple said, somewhat reluctant to leave her friends behind.

Alexander tapped her forehead, “Silly little pig, they will be going to university too, and by that time, they might not even be in Clearwater!”

“Oh, right.” Purple was slow on the uptake.

The third grade was more than halfway through, with only half a semester left. Many schools abroad start early, so if students were planning to study overseas, they might leave after the New Year, substantially reducing the class size, right?

From then on, everyone would go their separate ways, and they might never see each other again for the rest of their lives, which was quite disheartening to think about.

When they were about to reach the Summers Residence gates, Alexander received a call. She didn’t know what was said on the other end, but after he hung up, he told Purple, “Go back first when we get there. If Mom asks, tell her I’ll be back late because of an errand.”

“Nothing serious, I hope?” Purple asked, concerned.

Alexander replied, “It was a call from the hospital. Damian Howard has shown signs of waking up. Just now, the nurse saw him open his eyes, so they’re calling me over. Maybe I can help wake him up.”

Purple’s brows furrowed. A vegetative patient showing signs of waking up might be good news, but the thought inexplicably sent a shiver down her spine.

“If Thirteenth Young Master Howard recovers, will it affect you?” she asked him.

She remembered Alexander saying that he was holding the position of family head for Damian Howard. If Damian recovered, would Alexander return the position to him? And if he did, would Damian let Alexander off the hook?

Everyone knows the story of killing the donkey once it leaves the grindstone; Purple didn’t know Damian’s character well enough to judge.

Alexander smiled and patted Purple’s head, “Don’t worry; my exit strategy is already arranged. Of course, his things must be returned to him, but not a single bit of what’s mine will be given up.”

Alexander had been with the Howard Family for many years, not just to make dresses for others. He had also been cultivating his own power.

In this regard, Purple trusted that Alexander was more alert than she was, so she said no more. She only reminded him to try and call home whenever he could, no matter how busy he was.

Purple got out of the car in front of the Summers Residence gate, watching Alexander drive away. She stood there until his car was out of sight, then slowly turned and walked through the ornate wrought-iron gate.

She held the flowers in her hand; the lilies of the valley were charming, and the white rose was lush. She couldn’t help but have a preference.

She used to think roses were tacky, just like Alexander—vulgar and crass, neither romantic nor tasteful. Even if he suddenly became refined one day, it would surely be to mask his thuggish intents.

But now, she felt roses were lovely, and she liked them very much.

She passed a maid on the way and casually handed the lilies of the valley to her. The maid smiled and said, “Wow, these flowers are really beautiful. Thank you, Miss Purple Summers.”

Purple smiled back, her mood was good.

Then she heard laughter in the distance.

It was Dylan Summers laughing; he seemed particularly happy. His hearty laughter carried far from the living room.

The maid said, “Young Master Nathaniel is back, and Miss Laura Summers is, too.”

No wonder Dylan was so delighted. With the end of the year approaching, a family reunion signaled good fortune. He had been worried that Nathaniel might get into trouble outside, to the point of nearly calling the police.
