If it hadn’t been for her pregnancy, Sheldon Fowler’s unwillingness to take responsibility, why would Yolanda Summers have harbored murderous intent toward her boyfriend?
Purple Summers stared at Yolanda Summers in shock.
Yolanda was wearing a loose camel-colored coat, a style she had often donned lately. Even though the heating was on in the room, she never took off her coat. With her originally slender and tall figure, her pregnancy was not noticeable at all.
“You pretended to be kidnapped, but actually, you were going out of town for an abortion? You disappear for a week or two and then come back, everyone thinks you were kidnapped, and no one knows what you actually did!” Purple questioned.
Once it was discovered that Yolanda was pregnant before marriage, not only would her reputation be ruined, but Dylan Summers, in a fit of shame and anger, might kill her!
Yolanda was painfully retching, unable to speak, with eyes alarmingly red and covered with a layer of water mist.
It took her a while to recover, and through gritted teeth, she said, “He always says he wants to marry me with his lips, but he can’t actually stand up to his mother and his aunt! The Fowler family treated me like a fool, and I won’t let them get away with it. Since they cherish this only son and nephew of three generations so much, I want the Fowler family to have no descendants!”
Purple was puzzled and asked, “His mother and aunt disagree? Why?”
In this day and age, with free love being commonplace, unless there were a significant difference in family backgrounds, parents wouldn’t oppose too much. The only thing the Summers family possibly lagged in comparison to the Fowler family was in overseas assets, but overall, they were considered a good match. Why would the Fowler family disagree?
Now that everything was out in the open, Yolanda let it all out, deciding to make a clean breast of it.
“Mrs. Fowler invited me to visit the Fowler home. After dinner, Sheldon and I went to take a nap… The next day, Sheldon told me that his mother and aunt did not agree with us continuing our relationship because I did not ‘spot’ red; I was not a virgin!”
Purple’s eyes widened in disbelief… this reason…
The Fowler family did business overseas; shouldn’t they be more open-minded?
Upon reflection, though, something seemed off.
“You visited the Fowler home and then took a nap with Sheldon?” Purple was astonished.
On her first visit, Yolanda, who was to meet her future mother-in-law, should have been intent on presenting herself as chaste and graceful. How could she act so carelessly?
Yolanda said bitterly, “I was set up! After eating, I felt very sleepy. When I woke up, I found Sheldon and I naked in bed together. It wasn’t the first time we did it, so I didn’t think much of it, thinking Sheldon found it more exciting at home. But the next day, Sheldon told me that his mother is very traditional. They didn’t find ‘red’ on the bed and said that the Fowler’s daughter-in-law couldn’t be an unchaste woman, forbidding him to date me any longer!”
She was full of resentment, tears falling rapidly, and her voice was pressed to an extreme whisper, as if she wanted to grind each word with her teeth to dust.
“He’s dating the match his mother introduced him to behind my back! Yet on the other hand, he says he loves me! Tells me to give him time, saying his mother will accept me eventually!” Yolanda said fiercely, “How can I give him time? My belly is growing bigger every day! He doesn’t want to take responsibility and doesn’t dare to mention it to his mother! Coward! If his mom hadn’t drugged me that day, how could I have gotten pregnant?”
Having said that, Yolanda raised her head and looked straight into Purple’s eyes, “Since Sheldon has set me up, I won’t let him have it easy either. We might as well perish together if necessary. Pretend I was never here today!”
She turned to walk out but was stopped by Purple at the door.
“How exactly do you plan on ‘perishing together’? By fighting with Sheldon while heavily pregnant? That’s really brilliant, one of the Summers sisters going insane, the other pregnant out of wedlock. I certainly don’t want our reputation ruined by you two!” Purple said coldly, her gaze falling on Yolanda’s abdomen, “Where do you plan to go to deal with the child?”
Arranging a kidnapping served not only as punishment for Sheldon but also as an opportunity for her own abortion. Otherwise, given Dylan Summers’ strictness with his daughters, he would never allow Yolanda to stay out overnight or travel alone.
With uncertainty in her eyes, Yolanda stubbornly replied, “None of your business!”
