The narrow, winding tunnel abruptly gave way, and Sol stepped out from behind his controlled ant. The breath completely left his body.

He had found it. The Royal Chamber.

As for how to describe it?

It was something he had never seen in his life, heck he didn’t even dare imagine something like this. It was a cavern of impossible, staggering proportions, so astronomically massive that the far walls were entirely swallowed by the subterranean gloom. It felt less like a room and more like an inverted cathedral carved into the very mantle of the Great Orrath.

The ceiling, lost in the heavy, humid shadows, was supported by colossal, naturally formed pillars of diamond-hard petrified wood and packed earth.

The floor was a sprawling, undulating carpet of glowing, crimson light.

There were thousands upon thousands of eggs. But unlike the pale, translucent sacs in the upper nursery, these were Royal Eggs. They pulsed with a deep, menacing scarlet bioluminescence, bathing the entire cavern in an eerie, blood-red glow. Thick, pulsing veins of unrefined raw essence crystals spider-webbed across the walls, feeding ambient energy directly into the chamber.

But it was the entity resting at the absolute center of the abyss that commanded all attention.

The Queen.

She was a mountainous, bloated monstrosity of pale, translucent flesh and jagged, obsidian-black armor. She was easily the size of a three-story building, her massive, pale abdomen continually throbbing as it rested on a raised dais of hardened earth. Her upper body was heavily armored, possessing six massive, spiked legs folded neatly beneath her thorax.

The ambient Primal Essence radiating from her massive, slowly rising chest was so profoundly dense it felt like a physical weight pressing against Sol’s skull.

Layer 3, Sol’s analytical mind registered, his heart hammering a frantic, terrifying rhythm. An absolute, undisputed Layer 3 Lord Bloodline.

For a moment, Sol’s heart galloped wildly in his chest, it was fucking Lord Bloodline.

Yet, as Sol activated his Crimson-Sight, pushing his vision to analyze her thermal and spiritual signature, he realized why his insane gamble had a chance of succeeding.

Her eyes were closed. Her massive, terrifying mandibles were slack. But more importantly, the ambient Primal Essence radiating from her massive chest wasn’t a roaring, suffocating sun like the Lord Dreadwing or the Lord Badger had been.

It was flickering.

Through his spiritual sight, her core looked like a dying ember struggling against the dark. Her physical body was massive, yes, but her soul was severely injured. The spiritual energy flowing through her meridians was sluggish, fractured, and leaking a sickly, pale-grey mist into the air. She was in a state of deep, comatose recovery.

This is why, Sol thought, a feral, opportunistic grin spreading across his face despite the suffocating terror of the room. This is exactly why I dared to come down here.

A transmigrator’s greatest weapon wasn’t just raw stats, it was the ability to apply otherworldly logic to a chaotic world, and more importantly thinking and daring something, natives don’t even dare dream.

Likewise, his reason for coming down here was a well thought out plan, not something he did on whim.

The Great Orrath was a realm defined by territory. A Sovereign ant queen was the ultimate territorial apex predator. When hundreds of high-tier Badgers and Dreadwings had breached her crater, causing earthquakes and slaughtering her children, a healthy Queen would have erupted from the earth and annihilated the intruders with a single wave of attack.

But... she hadn’t.

She had stayed buried in the dark, letting her soldiers and commanders do the dying.

Of course, it was also a super risky plan, the queen could be busy with something important, be someone cold who didn’t care about her children, or just gearing for bigger enemies, but he still took the risk, because he was beginning to understand this savage world, if you want to get something, you absolutely have to take a risk and fight for it.

So, despite the immense risk, he decided to take the chance, of course one the reason was since he had entered his intuition hadn’t warned him.

Anyway, back to the scene.

She’s old, or she recently fought something even worse and barely survived, Sol deduced, his Golden Liquid core humming in anticipation. Her army is busy fighting a war of attrition on the surface. Her commanders are distracted. The boss is at one percent HP, and her guard is down. This is the perfect, once-in-a-lifetime chance.

Sol gripped the heavy shaft of his Void-Oak spear, stepping fully into the red-lit chamber.

But alas! The Great Orrath never made things that easy.

The exact moment his boot touched the soft, webbed floor of the Royal Chamber, the deep, impenetrable shadows clinging to the massive stone pillars on either side of the entrance suddenly warped and detached themselves.

The ambient temperature in the room spiked so violently that the damp air instantly turned into hissing steam.

Thrum.

Two colossal figures stepped out of the gloom, blocking the path to the slumbering Queen.

They were ants, but their biology was a terrifying, mutated deviation from the rest of the colony. They stood entirely on their hind legs, towering fifteen feet tall, adopting a horrifyingly bipedal stance. Their carapaces weren’t rusted red or obsidian black, they were a polished, blood-crimson, etched with natural, black runes that pulsed with intense heat.

They were the Royal Guards. Layer 2 Omen-Bloods, bred and mutated for the singular, absolute purpose of protecting the monarch.

They possessed no front legs. Instead, their upper limbs had evolved into massive, serrated, scythe-like blades made of ultra-dense biological metal. The blades dripped constantly with a superheated, bubbling acid that hissed as it hit the floor, melting the stone instantly.

Their faceted eyes locked onto Sol. They didn’t click their mandibles. They didn’t roar. They simply lowered their scythes, radiating an overwhelming, suffocating aura of dark essence and searing heat.

"Right," Sol muttered, his knuckles turning white around his spear. "Of course there’s a mini-boss before the loot."

Without a single sound, the Guard on the left vanished.
