From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss Chapter 167

He mentioned a confession, not an engagement with her.

Rosalyn Quinn felt a chill in her heart. She knew that once Zachary Sutton began his investigation, her lies would likely be exposed.

Still, she was unwilling to give up and tried to salvage the situation.

"In the end, you just don’t believe me." Rosalyn burst into tears, "Last night, there was no other woman but me."

"It’s not that I don’t believe you, I just want to get to the bottom of this." Looking at the sobbing Rosalyn, Zachary Sutton’s frown deepened.

"Since you’re unwilling to take responsibility, I might as well die."

With that, Rosalyn dashed into the kitchen, grabbed the fruit knife from the cabinet, and attempted to cut her own wrist. Fınd the newest release on 𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹·𝖿𝗂𝗋𝖾·𝗇𝖾𝗍

Seeing this, Zachary Sutton was shocked and quickly rushed forward, snatching the fruit knife from her hand. "What are you doing?"

Zachary Sutton held onto the fruit knife tightly, and the sharp blade made a cut on his palm.

Immediately, blood dripped from his hand.

"Zachary, your hand is bleeding," Rosalyn was startled by the sight.

Rosalyn frantically tried to check Zachary Sutton’s wound, but he evaded her. "Don’t touch me. Rosalyn, why do you have to go to such extremes? This won’t solve anything."

Zachary Sutton’s eyes were filled with disappointment and helplessness. He hadn’t expected Rosalyn to resort to such a measure, and this worsened the impression he had of her.

"Zachary, I just love you too much. I don’t want to lose you," Rosalyn said through her tears.

"Love isn’t about possession or using extreme measures to threaten someone," Zachary said coldly. "If you truly love me, you should respect my decision, not force me with such tactics."

Rosalyn bit her lip, her eyes filled with regret. She knew she had really messed up this time, but she felt trapped.

"Zachary, I realize I was wrong. Please don’t leave me, alright?" Rosalyn pleaded.

Zachary looked at Rosalyn, feeling somewhat swayed. He wasn’t a cold-hearted person, and seeing her , he felt a pang of reluctance.

But he knew he couldn’t make the wrong decision just because he felt sorry for her. He needed to uncover what had happened last night before deciding what to do next.

"Rosalyn, calm down first. Once I’ve figured things out, we can have a proper conversation." Zachary said.

"In the end, you don’t trust me. Do you think I would use my own purity to threaten you? Zachary Sutton, who do you think I am?" Rosalyn cried, tears streaming down her face as she accused him, "Fine, if you won’t take responsibility, I’ll just leave."

With that, Rosalyn ran out of the villa in tears.

Witnessing this, Zachary stood there, momentarily forgetting about the wound on his palm, at a loss.

Blood continued to drip from his fingers, falling drop by drop onto the ground.

Could it be that he was overthinking things?

Rosalyn’s words had some truth; a girl’s purity is her most precious possession—she wouldn’t joke about something .

Besides, she had been driven to the point of attempting suicide to prove her innocence.

With this thought, a tinge of guilt flashed in Zachary’s eyes.

He stood there, looking at the bloodstains on the ground, feeling conflicted within.

He didn’t know whether he should believe Rosalyn or how to face this situation.

He sighed, went to the living room, found a band-aid to roughly treat his wound, and then sat down on the sofa, lost in thought.

He recalled Riley Hawthorne, that cute and innocent girl.

Last night, although he was drunk, he dreamed of her.

He dreamt of her saying goodbye to him, "Zachary, I might not love you anymore, I’m leaving..."

Then, her figure gradually faded from his sight.

He shouted at her retreating figure, "No, don’t leave me..."

Zachary felt a headache, as if he was trapped in a whirlpool, unable to get out.

Could it be that last night, he mistook Rosalyn for Riley, which is why he did those things with her?

Just the thought of it made Zachary feel like a bastard, feeling sorry for both Riley and Rosalyn.

Isn’t this hurting two people at the same time?

"Riley, you’re awake?"

Riley Hawthorne didn’t know how long she had slept, and upon waking, saw Vivian Lynch sitting by the bed, looking at her tenderly, with her family also present nearby.

"Sister-in-law, Grandpa, Mom, why are you all here?"

Riley propped her fatigued body up, slowly sitting up, feeling sore all over, as if drained of strength, with a severe headache.

Vivian quickly said, "Riley, don’t get up; you’re still running a fever!"

"A fever?" Riley was puzzled and instinctively touched her forehead.

Her forehead was burning hot, and she realized she really was feverish. Her face was somewhat pale, her eyes revealing fatigue.

"How did I get a fever?" Riley asked weakly.

Vivian looked at her with pity. "Last night, when you came back, you didn’t look well. You might have caught a chill. With your mood also being low, your body got even weaker."

Mrs. Hawthorne sat beside her, her face full of concern. "Riley, how are you feeling? Do you need to go to the hospital?"

Riley shook her head. "Mom, I’m okay, no need for the hospital. I’ll just take some medicine."

Old Master Hawthorne also looked at her with concern. "Girl, don’t push yourself if you’re not well. Health is the priority."

Riley’s heart warmed. She felt her family’s care and love. "Grandpa, I know. Don’t worry."

Vivian poured Riley a glass of water and handed it to her. "Riley, drink some water first. Later, take your medicine and rest well."

Riley took the glass and sipped some water.

Her mood remained heavy, her mind involuntarily drifting back to everything that happened last night, as if reliving a painful dream.

"Riley, have a good rest. Your mom and I will head out for now." Old Master Hawthorne felt reassured after seeing Riley take her cold medicine before leaving the room with Mrs. Hawthorne.

Vivian didn’t leave immediately. Instead, she sat by the bed, quietly watching her.

"Riley, is there something on your mind?"

A woman’s intuition is usually spot on.

Vivian felt that Riley was hiding something from them but wasn’t saying anything, keeping it all to herself.

"Sister-in-law, could you let me be alone for a while?" Riley wasn’t in the mood to tell Vivian her troubles right now.

Vivian knew she wasn’t in a good mood and needed rest, so she didn’t press further.

"Alright, rest well. When you’re ready to talk, let me know." With that, Vivian tucked her in and got up to leave.
