Chapter 54: I Thought My Luck Already Ran Out?
Violet pulled Myles and wiped the tears off of her face. She glared at the arena referee, who remained in his position.
The voice of the Guardian of Scarlet Bond echoed behind her, "Oh, my dear little mistress, you have survived. You really won."
Violet sharply turned her head and glared at her with bloodshot eyes. She said, "You almost killed me, auntie!"
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was about to fan herself when she raised her hands, with her right hand grasping the hand fan, and said, "In the first place, you said it yourself, the knight’s purpose is to protect you. If he failed to do so out of carelessness, then he failed at his service."
She grinned. "At an expense of your life."
Violet growled. She did not expect her auntie to be decisive and indifferent to her life. She was unable to say anything.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond sighed. "My dear little mistress, you have angered me earlier with your proposal and have long accepted whatever the result, despite being confident of your Blood Knight. You risked your life, so isn’t it natural that you felt like losing your life earlier? You can’t just spout some nonsense and not take responsibility for it."
Violet was silent. Her auntie’s words echoed in her mind, simmering her down. She thought. Yeah, auntie is right. But, still...
She asked, "If you have proposed a rule that is significant in this battle, you should have instructed the arena referee to do so. I could have won without feeling life was about to leave me."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond fanned herself. "That’s the point. Since you’re trying to bring the reality in this supposed to be just a traditional battle, we might as well decide to bring you into reality that real battle doesn’t inform you about rules."
Her eyes flashed. "So, how does it feel? I gotta have to commend your knight for saving your ass, my dear little mistress."
Violet was taken aback. It was the first time her auntie uttered a curse word.
She thought. I might have really angered her. She sighed. In the first place, it wasn’t me who proposed it, but Myles.
As much as she wanted to explain herself, she didn’t have a choice but to admit her mistake.
She said, "Alright, I apologized, auntie. I learned a lot of lessons."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond stared at her nephew and heaved a sigh of relief. It seems she really has learned her lesson. Thankfully, she’s matured enough to accept her mistake.
She knocked Violet’s head with her hand fan and said, "Foolish little girl. Don’t do it again."
Violet smiled and bowed deeply.
Myles, on the other hand, also bowed. After knowing it was his time to greet the Guardian of Scarlet Bond, he said, "Greetings, Guardian of Scarlet Bond."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond merely glanced at him and said, "You did a good job protecting my stubborn nephew. I did not expect your mastery of the Crimson Phantom Steps to be at almost the expert level. Your demonic core too, as if it’s on the Common—"
Her eyes widened. "You are the Greater Demon Rank? How? Did you hide your demonic energy?"
Myles chuckled, enough for her to hear, and said, "I did not. It seemed like it evolved after I killed the incubus and the Shadowbind Knight."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond was silent for a while, staring at Myles with inquisitive eyes.
Myles didn’t dare to meet her gaze, locking his eyes not even on her feet.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond said, "You do possess a lot of secrets, huh? I’m really curious now."
Myles replied, "I don’t think it’s worth your attention, Guardian of Scarlet Bond."
"We’ll see."
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond turned towards her nephew and said, "Let’s return to the house now. Your Velour Coffin Satchel is waiting for you to be opened."
Violet sighed, not knowing how to react to her joke. Indeed, the Velour Coffin Satchel had never opened even during the trip. Most of her time was taken by her auntie’s training, barely eating and sleeping.
Later, she would finally be able to take care of herself.
As the Guardian of Scarlet Bond turned around and walked towards the corridor leading to their chamber, being followed by Violet, the Guardian of Obsidian Descent’s voice echoed behind them.
"You, Blood Knight, what is your name?"
Violet was taken aback and swiftly turned around.
She was relieved the Guardian of Obsidian Descent was far from Myles, who was embracing the corpse of their Young Lord.
She gazed at Myles, who was already facing the Guardian of Obsidian Descent.
Myles said, "Myles."
The Guardian of Obsidian Descent nodded. "You are the first Blood Knight I’ve seen to possess an immense potential. Although I suspected if you really are a Blood Knight since you are hiding behind that half-sigil artifact, you are no doubt a Blood Knight.
I praised your potential and ability. Tell me what you wish, I will grant it to you if it’s within my capabilities."
Myles, Violet, and the Guardian of Scarlet Bond were taken aback.
The Guardian of Scarlet Bond thought. This might be a chance if he wants to enter the incubus houses being a hybrid.
However, she was surprised by Myles’ quick response.
"Give me a copy of your demonic art."
The Guardian of Obsidian Descent was taken aback.
He frowned. It doesn’t even matter if our demonic art will be publicized, since only us have the affinity with the law of shadows, except the demon king. Why is he asking for that?
Whatever, since it’s within my capability, I will give it to him.
He said, "Alright, if that’s what you want, I will grant that. If you have time once you become a student in the Royal Academy, look for me and I will give you a copy for it."
Without waiting for Myles’ response, he turned around while carrying the corpse of his Young Lord and disappeared in the corridor.
Myles, on the other hand, was speechless.
