C27 – To Lure away the Zombies
“Tan Chong, it’s futile. Even if we’re silent, the zombies will still crush the Base Car. We’re not getting out of this alive,” Ming Dong whispered.
Tan Chong was well aware of this, his mind racing with thoughts.
“The zombies are almost here…”
Cao Rann’s voice shook as he warned that the zombies were less than ten meters from the Base Car.
With such an enormous Zombie Group bearing down on them, abandoning the car and running was no longer an option.
The true horror of the Zombie Tide lay not only in its sheer numbers but also in the presence of High Level Zombies.
A High Level Zombie was as formidable as an Evolver. Tan Chong could certainly escape, but the others stood no chance.
“I’ll go out and draw the zombies away. You all stay hidden in the car and keep quiet,” Tan Chong instructed in a hushed tone.
His plan was risky, but he was full of confidence.
With the Extreme Speed Battle Boots, he could outrun the zombies with ease.
And with his Pulse Pistol, he could keep taking them down, no matter how many there were.
“No!” Jiang Qiu’s face went pale, and she immediately protested.
She couldn’t bear the thought of Tan Chong risking his life against the overwhelming horde.
“Don’t worry. The zombies won’t get me,” Tan Chong reassured her with a smile, then added, “Once I’ve drawn them off, head straight for Vajra City. I’ll shake the zombies and meet you there.”
Without waiting for a response, Tan Chong dashed out of the Base Car.
The zombies, now less than five meters away, were instantly drawn to his sudden emergence.
To the zombies, humans were not just prey but also sustenance.
The sight of potential food set off a frenzied chorus of roars that thundered across the open plains.
Ming Dong and the rest shivered in terror, too frightened to even draw breath.
Tan Chong, undaunted, raised his hand and launched a fireball into the fray.
Amidst the violent explosion, the zombie nearest to Tan Chong was blasted in half.
Tan Chong’s actions had thoroughly enraged the zombies, and they charged at him in a frenzied assault.
One zombie, in particular, displayed exceptional agility and speed, surpassing the others. It was rapidly closing in on Tan Chong.
“Think you’re tough, Level 1 Zombie?” Tan Chong sneered and raised his pulse pistol, firing a shot.
The Level 1 Zombie’s head was blown to smithereens. It stumbled forward a couple of steps before collapsing powerlessly at Tan Chong’s feet.
Then, a red beam of light emanated from the corpse.
“A fragment!” Tan Chong’s eyes lit up as he snatched it.
“Pick up the fragment of the healing potion, and you can use it.”
“Use.”
A glass bottle materialized in Tan Chong’s hand, filled with a green liquid, and knowledge about the healing potion flooded his mind.
The healing potion was meant for treating wounds.
Tan Chong slipped the healing potion into his storage bag. After dispatching several zombies, he began to retreat at a measured pace.
To draw all the zombies away, Tan Chong didn’t sprint at full speed. Instead, he would periodically stop to eliminate a group of zombies after creating some distance.
In this manner, Tan Chong managed to attract all the zombies.
Meanwhile, on the plains, a bizarre spectacle unfolded as numerous zombies pursued Tan Chong with all their might, yet they couldn’t manage to catch him.
Whenever a group of zombies managed to close the gap slightly, they were ruthlessly gunned down.
