Lu Xingzhi felt much better after walking out of the school.
"The restaurant is still some distance away from here. You guys wait here for a bit; Xue Bei and I will go get the car." Luo Qingchen stopped and his cool, calm voice rang out.
"How far is it? Will we make it in time?" Liu Bailu was a bit worried. There were classes in the afternoon, and she was afraid of being late.
After all, today was the first day of class!
Xue Bei smiled reassuringly at her, "We’ll make it, don’t worry, Junior Sister Bailu, it only takes about ten minutes by car."
With Xue Bei and Luo Qingchen off to get the car, Ke Yanchu felt less constrained.
"Little Zhi Liao, what did you all eat? Asking me to eat alone with this Senior Qingchen, I definitely wouldn’t be able to eat anything. Your mental fortitude is amazing."
"Maybe in my eyes, all beings are equal!" Lu Xingzhi replied, like a master who had attained enlightenment.
"Am I too dumb? I didn’t get it." Ke Yanchu opened his mouth, puzzled by what it meant.
"You are indeed too dumb. What Little Zhi Liao means is that everyone looks the same to her. Right, Little Zhi Liao?" Xiong Yali said, unsure if she had interpreted correctly.
"That’s more or less what I meant. But, I was just joking. Wasn’t it funny?" Lu Xingzhi asked.
The air suddenly froze for a few seconds.
Xiong Yali and Ke Yanchu, along with Liu Bailu, exchanged glances and in the end, except for Liu Bailu who didn’t react much.
The other two couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Little Zhi Liao, you know how to joke! But we really didn’t realize you were joking. The line after was funnier." Ke Yanchu laughed until tears came out.
Was Little Zhi Liao telling a cold joke?
It felt like a flock of crows flew over them.
Lu Xingzhi kept a straight face, "Maybe I’m more suited to being the cool and aloof type!"
"No, Little Zhi Liao, you’re not aloof. It’s just, when you tell a joke, could you maybe use some expression and not say it so seriously?" Ke Yanchu found Lu Xingzhi quite amusing.
The kind of amusing that completely misses her point.
"Yes, I agree with Little Yanzi." Xiong Yali nodded in agreement.
"Little Zhi Liao really isn’t suited for telling jokes." Liu Bailu recalled during military training when there was no training at night, the instructor asked everyone to perform a show, and Lu Xingzhi told a joke.
It just cooled the entire place down for quite a while.
She felt like she was a joke herself now.
How was it not funny? It was obviously very funny.
After chatting a bit, Xue Bei and Luo Qingchen each drove a car over.
Xue Bei was in the front; he rolled down the window, "Junior Sisters, who wants to ride in my car?"
"Yanzi, let’s ride in Senior Bei’s car!" Xiong Yali suggested.
"Hmm, okay." Ke Yanchu naturally had no objections, and she wasn’t too keen on riding in Luo Qingchen’s car either.
The guy was handsome but stifling. Not as fun and humorous as Xue Bei.
Luo Qingchen’s car also stopped; he got out, and after opening the passenger door, he said, "Little Zhi Liao, you sit in the front."
"I’m fine sitting in the back."
"So you think I look like a driver?" Luo Qingchen asked her.
"Alright then!" Lu Xingzhi didn’t think much of it, just as she was about to step in, Liu Bailu whispered, "Little Zhi Liao, can I sit in the front? I get a bit car sick."
