Gu Jin did not say anything upon hearing the captain's words; instead, he just looked the man in the eye and made a move.
With a speed faster than the eye could see, Gu Jin appeared right in front of him and raised his foot to kick the captain in the back of the head.

The soldiers trembled in fear, seeing their captain's face now embedded in the floor, blood leaking from his head. Even though they could sense vitality from him, he was barely hanging on to his life.
Gu Jin looked at the rest of them, which made their scalps go numb. They hurriedly looked down, not daring to make eye contact with him.
"Hump! Two of you, take this trash back to the training grounds. I will deal with him later, and before that, make sure he does not die."
He snorted at their cowardly behavior before ignoring them and turning towards Ma Ning.
Two of the soldiers kneeling in the front hurriedly took the wounded guy away; they did not want to stay there any longer and thought of this as a good opportunity to slip away.
The rest of the soldiers also cursed their fate for not being at the front.
"What should we do with him? Want me to take him to the city lord?"
Hearing his words, Ma Ning wanted to look at Yu Ming for an answer, but before he could turn, he felt a sharp gaze at his back, along with a thought transmission not to turn in her direction. She did not want to disclose her identity in front of these soldiers.
There was a risk that rumors might start to spread. It was better for her to stay low profile for a while.
"Ara, weird old man, would you be kind enough to release the pressure on him?"
For the old man, Xin Yan sounded like an angel that brought him out of the dilemma of what to do with Xu Kai. Ma Ning did not even mind her calling him an old man at the moment. He promptly ignored the weird part too.
"Sure, do you want to say something to him, Lady Xin Yan?"
Gu Jun raised his eyebrows in surprise; he had never seen the shrewd old man act like this with anyone. Ma Ning was not even flaring at someone calling him a weird old man in front of everyone. This scene shocked them to their core.
"Ara, nothing of importance. I just wanted to throw some things away, but now I found a good use for them."
Her words puzzled everyone, including Yu Ming. Even though she could tell Xin Yan was about to do something to relieve her anger, she could not think of what she might do.
Their confusion did not last for long. Xin Yan made her move after arriving in front of the man.
"Boy from the Xu Family, your eyes reminded me of someone I know. You know he gave me some gifts that I have kept until now, but I want to discard them now. So…"
Xin Yan walked forward and pulled out a beautiful-looking Phoenix jade hairpin from her storage ring.
"...Would you be kind enough to hold it for me~"

With a sweet smile on her face, Xin Yan stabbed the hairpin inside one of his eyes, causing blood to splash on her face.
Everyone was shocked that the gentle and sweet woman was capable of such a thing. The soldiers, who were scared at the sight of their commander, peed their pants in fear at the sight in front of them.
The chilling smile did not go well with the blood painted on her face.
"Ara~ Don't faint just now; there is one more~ That son of the nastiest bitch really went all out to buy them for me!"
Xin Yan brought out another hairpin and played with it as the poor young master looked at her with hatred and fear in his eyes.

"Aaaghhh!!!"

"Wow, would you look at that! You have phoenix eyes now~"
Xin Yan playfully remarked before turning to look in the direction of the pale Ma Ning. After today, Ma Ning realized that he was truly fortunate to have Yu Ming as his superior instead of someone like her.
When he saw her turning in his direction, Ma Ning took a step back before gulping his saliva down in nervousness.
"You can take him away now. I am done~ sorry for the delay~ Make sure he is punished properly."
Xin Yan chuckled while covering her mouth with her hands.
"...Ahem! It's nothing to worry about, Lady Xin Yan. I will make sure he is punished for his deeds."
Ma Ning hurriedly nodded while Gu Jin also looked at the scene with pure shock.
He wanted to intervene because her actions might anger the Xu Family, but his instincts told him not to do it.
He was not gonna lie, but he trembled a little seeing the scary smile on her face.
He could not have imagined, even after the time he had spent on the battlefield before retirement, that there was still something that could make him feel fear.
Gu Jin was just happy that the woman did not kill Xu Kai. After all, with some pill, he could recover.
Although he couldn't say anything about his eyes, what's better for the boy than to be able to live?
'You Bitch!!! Just you wait for my Xu Family to kill you!' Xu Kai exclaimed inside his head. He could not think of anything as he writhed on the ground in pain. He started cursing Xin Yan's whole family in his mind but could not even voice it out.
With Gu Jin present here, he did not dare to say anything to her face. There was killing intent in his eyes that everyone noticed.
Xin Yan just turned back and walked towards the dazed Yu Ming.
When she first saw Xin Yan stabbing the hairpin in Xu Kai's eyes, Yu Ming was obviously scared, but that only lasted for a moment. After a while, she was entranced by the sight as if something awakened inside of her.
She found the scene exhilarating and could not take her eyes off of it.
Aside from fearing Xin Yan, she admired her a little now.
Not knowing that she gained an admirer, Xin Yan walked back inside the house along with Yu Ming.
