Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes Chapter 52

"Just two months before," Lana said in a hesitant voice. It was only 3 weeks or so, but she didn’t decide to hide that.

"Two months?" Professor Rensworth repeated, his tone calm but his eyes widening slightly. The faintest flicker of disbelief crossed his sharp features before he caught himself.

The room went utterly silent again. Even the faint hum of mystic energy seemed to dim.

"Two... months?" Richard echoed, lowering his glasses to make sure he’d heard correctly. "Did she mistake the professor’s question? Maybe she is telling when she had broken through to Black Rank, right?"

"You mean to say, you awakened as a mystic cultivator just two months before and even reached Black Rank just two months later?" Professor Rensworth asked in a gentle yet trembling voice.

"Ugh... yes." Lana scratched her head slightly. Why were they repeating the same question?

Are they impressed because of her progress? But her original awakening date was 3 weeks before.

’Maybe I am too awesome.’

"A genius! She is a genius among mystic cultivators!" Professor Rensworth murmured, his eyes flashing with excitement.

"So are you admitting this child in the department, or should I assign her under my..." Duran began, but he was cut off midway.

"Excuse me, Mr. Duran, that would be highly inappropriate." Rensworth interrupted, "This child belongs to our department; putting her under somewhere else will be disrespectful to us."

"Okay, then I will take Lana away and ask her to prepare for your interview. I will also fill out weapon designing as a backup in case you reject her during the interview." Duran said with a grin on his face, his eyes flashing with a calculating glint.

"No need. I have taken the interview. She has passed." Professor Rensworth insisted with a straight face.

"Oh? Then about the procedure and the Council’s permission..." Duran began but again was cut off.

"No need. She has been enrolled. I will finish the paperwork by today. Now, please leave; you are disturbing me." Rensworth’s face turned cold.

’Wow... that’s a face-slapping moment.’ Lana thought, but Professor Rensworth almost choked on his cough.

He gently turned toward Lana and smiled.

"Child, this is called flexibility."

Lana’s eyes widened when she realized something...

Professor Rensworth could read minds!

Seeing the curve of his lips, Lana was stunned. Her guess was correct; meanwhile, Rensworth was immensely satisfied.

’This child is smart! Hm! Hm! Worthy for our mystic department!’

Duran saw the interaction, and heaved a sigh of relief. He had a favorable impression of Lana and didn’t want to see her struggle.

With measured steps, he left the classroom, while Professor Rensworth turned his attention to Lana. ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ꜰʀᴏᴍ novel-fire.ɴet

"You should introduce yourself to the class."

With a polite nod, Lana begins.

"Hello, everyone. I am Lana. I am 20 years old. I follow the silver rule: if you hurt me, I will hurt you back. So if you’re thinking of pranking me, drop it now."

There was silence for a long while before the sound of laughter echoed in the classroom.

Even Professor Rensworth’s lips curved. This new transfer student was interesting!

"Hey Lana! We will become close friends; I, too, follow the silver rule!" Layla shouted in a cheerful voice.

Lana heaved a sigh of relief before calmly walking to Layla’s seat.

Professor Rensworth looked at Lana and introduced,

"I am Axel Rensworth. I am Celestial Core Stage Level 2. If you have any doubts or need extra lectures, just let me know, and I will schedule one for you."

"Professor, you never gave us such good treatment. The last time I asked for an extra lecture, you made me copy the content of 5 lectures 100 times!" Wade rolled his eyes; his voice was laced with sarcasm.

Axel smirked, "Go and change your gender; I will give an extra lecture while carrying you in a princess style."

Lana almost whistled.

Axel’s attention turned toward Lana, and he said softly, "The young lady sitting beside you is Layla. The anti-feminist just now was Wade. The young lady with black hair is Betty, the guy wearing specs is Richard, and the one with crimson eyes is Fay."

Lana greeted them and heard Axel speak.

"They all are at a late stage of Earth rank. And their energy level is at C-rank."

"There are grades in energy?" Lana asked curiously. She had previously heard Mr. Crow mention how her energy resembled an X-Rank energy level, but she never thought there was indeed a division.

"Yes. The higher a mystic cultivator possesses, the higher their energy grade is." Rensworth answered.

Lana nodded, a question popped into her mind, and she asked hesitantly,

"Professor... you are at the Celestial Core Stage... why don’t you go and open your city instead of teaching?"

Hearing her naive words, all the students smiled while Professor Rensworth tried to hide his smile with his hand.

"That’s because the salary given here and the perks presented by the principal are way more beneficial than owning a city."

"Like?" Lana asked curiously. From her perspective, owning a city was way better than becoming a teacher.

"Like making a connection with the future mystic cultivator. Having cultivation resources worth more than $1 billion and free hours after the lecture were over. Oh! There were also secret realms."

Lana knew them. Along with the ghost portals, many portals to secret realms also open occasionally. They were a good place for cultivators, and some secret realms’ portals were also exclusively owned by some enterprises.

Many of the second-generation heirs just live off by selling the keys to these portals.

"Does the university have an exclusive mystic portal?" Lana asked with a pounding heart.

"Not just one but 5," Rensworth answered proudly. He even knew that the principal had gone to acquire the sixth portal.

"Our university is rich," Lana murmured in a low voice.

"So yes, rather than owning a city, I love to work here as a professor." Rensworth smiled kindly.

"Wait... Professor, did you say the cultivation resources go up to $1 billion?" Lana asked with widened eyes.
