Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes Chapter 69

’I suspect you have ulterior motive, though I lack evidence.’ Mr. Crow snorted.

’Baseless accusations could lead to prison time.’ Lana smugly smiled in her heart, while her face remained neutral.

"Sigh... I... won’t comment then. If you ever wish for a sponsor, though, "Remember about my offer."

"Hm." Lana gave a polite nod, though her heart was fixed on the apex-quality man lounging near her.

"Let’s focus on the rescue mission then." Nixon changed the topic to lighten the tension lingering in the air.

Once the plan was perfected, Nixon explained it to the psychics, while Lana decided to check the explosive power of the gauntlets.

Though made of steel-like material, they weren’t heavyweightand perfectly fit Lana’s hand. Its sleek design tempted Lana to flex it as she opened and closed her fist.

Toward the finger area, the silver shining color transformed into a deep glossy navy shade, and the palm region was made of a leather-like material.

Convenient and comfortable.

She lifted her hand in the direction of a stone slab presented to her for experiment and channeled the Aether inside her to the gauntlet.

The next second a stream of silver energy burst through the palm region and struck the stone slab with a deafening crack.

The impact sent shards flying across the testing ground, and a thick veil of dust rose into the air. When it settled, the slab was reduced to rubble, its fragments glowing faintly from residual energy.

Lana blinked, her lips curving into a faint smile.

’Hm... not bad. Though its reaction time isn’t meeting my expectation and the defense feature still hasn’t been added... they still seem passable.’

"Whoa," one of the psychics muttered. "That thing could crush an armored sentinel in one hit."

Lana flexed her fingers again, watching the faint veins of silver light fade back into the gauntlet’s surface.

"The recoil isn’t unpleasant either. With proper channeling, I could amplify it tenfold."

"Are we working with that?" One of the psychics asked with interest.

"Most likely." Someone else answered him, though he seemed absent-minded.

Lana heard their discussion and curved her lips. The weapon was... after all, it could be said, her half creation.

Once all the preparations were made, Lana, along with the ten psychics and one telepath.

Disappointment surged in Lana’s heart when she realized that Lucian wasn’t going to join them.

Robert’s apartment was in a rundown building; though lacking hygiene, it was a blessing those outside the ghost zone looked up to.

The telepath stood outside the apartment and closed his eyes; his lips occasionally moved before he opened them with a grim expression.

A trace of fear was visible in his eyes, while his voice cracked toward the end, "They are inside. His wife is unconscious, and Robert could feel the presence of a ghost occasionally."

"Location?" Lana’s question was precise, while Mr. Crow, perched on her shoulder, closed his eyes. His mind did a quick search and he confirmed with certainty,

"A ghost presence is detected. He has 10 years of cultivation."

Lana’s heart tightened. Even with the addition of the talisman, she can only defeat a ghost with 8 years of cultivation.

"In the master bedroom." Telepath whispered, and cold sweat broke through his forehead. The trembling and fear-laced voice, as well as the presence of the ghost, made him frightened.

"Ask him to turn up the music; we will break the door." Lana ordered, her calm and composed aura settling the hanging hearts of others.

The telepath closed his eyes and conveyed the message.

2 minutes later blasting music echoed in Robert’s apartment, and the sound blurred due to the door but was still audible to Lana’s team.

It was an indication for them to start their plan.

"On my mark," Lana said evenly, eyes fixed on the old wooden door that separated them from the unknown.

The psychics split into two teams: four to force the door, the others to form a containment ring just inside the threshold.

They moved as one. Two psychics slammed their weight into the door.

The lock gave with a splintering groan; wood exploded inward on the third heavy kick. Dust and the sharp scent of mildew hit them first.

Lana’s eyes surveyed the room, and finding no ghostly presence, she motioned everyone to follow her in.

Once inside, she slowly inched toward the master bedroom, while the blaring music pounded through the thin walls, vibrating under their feet.

"Ask him to inch closer to the door and open it." Lana ordered, her eyes constantly surveying her surroundings to ensure the ghost was lingering in the master bedroom. The rıghtful source is NoveI-Fire.ɴet

The telepath nodded, and once he began, Lana turned toward the psychics.

"Two of you will rush behind me and restrict the wife’s entire body; the other six will take position. Am I clear?" Lana’s authoritative voice steadied the young psychics, and they nodded.

"Done." The telepath informed.

Robert’s trembling hands gripped the knob, and with a whispered count from the telepath, he eased it open just enough to let Lana and her team slip inside.

Lana rushed in and threw a talisman.

The yellow talisman glowed faintly before rushing in the direction of the north of the room.

"Ahhh!" A hoarse shriek echoed in the room while Lana slipped a few exorcism talismans inside Grace’s clothes.

At least whenever the ghost tried to possess Grace, it would retreat due to burning pain.

The psychic, each holding a talisman in their pocket, took the position, while Lana stood near Grace and Robert, her eyes narrowed while she stared at the direction where the golden glow was enveloping a shapeless air.

The air above the bed shimmered, distorting like heat waves over asphalt, as the ghost’s presence pulsed violently around the talisman’s light.

Lana’s fingers itched inside her gauntlets, silver veins flickering as she channeled Aether, ready to strike at the right moment.

The ghost writhed, its form constantly shifting, tendrils of shadow lashing toward the psychics’ protective circle.

Each talisman in their hands flared, repelling its probing attacks, but the entity’s cultivation pressed heavily against them.

The next second Lana lifted her hand and started to channel her mystic energy in the ghost’s direction.
