Chapter 718: If Only She Could Let Her Hand Stay There
He suddenly felt that his throat was a little dry and itchy. Nian Xi realized what happened, then felt the blood rush to her face. “I was applying the medicine to your back. Why did you turn around?” she yelled grumpily.
Jiang Yuning paused briefly. He forgot why he had turned around just now, so he turned back. As Nian Xi started spreading the medicine on his back again, Jiang Yuning vaguely remembered that he had turned around to tell Nian Xi that she pressed his wounds too heavily and made it hurt too much. But now, he couldn’t feel the pain anymore. All he could feel was the numbness and itchiness on his chest.
He felt a little empty when she took her hand away from his chest. If only she could let her hand stay there. Thinking about that, he turned around again. Learning from the last time, Nian Xi immediately pulled her hands back. She was a little angry. “Why don’t you just stand there? Why are you moving around?”
Jiang Yuning glanced at her hand and turned back around disappointedly, like a puppy that didn’t get the bone that it wanted.
It was finally done. While Jiang Yuning was putting his clothes back on, Nian Xi put away the medicine and clicked her tongue silently. His chest felt pretty nice, she thought.
For the next few hours, Nian Xi was on duty. Nothing strange happened during that time. At 11pm, her shift was done. Nian Xi prepared to leave, but found that Jiang Yuning had fallen asleep in her chair. Even though he was asleep, his back was still straight. Only his head was a little tilted.
She walked to him. A part of her wanted to sneak away. However, thinking that he had been injured because of her earlier, she sighed, then walked over and woke him up. She still didn’t have the heart to leave him there alone.
He opened his sleepy eyes. Seeing his brush-like, curling eyelashes, Nian Xi had a bright light flash across her eyes. That guy looked so tasty when he just woke up. She calmed herself down, then said, “Can you stay here for tonight? There’s a bed.”
Jiang Yuning shook his head, then quickly stood up and followed closely behind Nian Xi. He was probably aware that she was about to get off work. Nian Xi even wanted to die. It was so late today. She really didn’t want to drive him all the way to Tianhu Villa. The villa was too far away from the police station. However, it was a little inappropriate for her to bring him home, as he was a guy and she was a girl…
“You’re a just a lost man. Aren’t you demanding too much? Also, why do you only speak when talking about science? Can’t you talk a little at other times, too?” Nian Xi felt so tired. “What woman can possibly stand you? Is your mouth for eating only?”
Jiang Yuning frowned, thought for a moment, then lowered his head and wrote, Mouth is for eating.
Nian Xi was so angry. She took away his pen and notebook, saying, “Let’s see how you’re gonna write another word.”
Jiang Yuning stayed silent. Then, Nian Xi tore the notebook into pieces and walked out of the police station with her head held high. Jiang Yuning quietly followed her. She got into the car, and he did the same. Nian Xi had no other choice but to bring him back to her apartment.
Her apartment had three bedrooms and was a great mess. Seven or eight pairs of shoes were thrown in a disordered pile near the door. The living room was filled with all kinds of snack packages and fruit peels. The floor hadn’t been cleaned in many days. Jiang Yuning walked to the door, then knitted his delicate eyebrows together slightly.
Nian Xi was exhausted. She pointed at one bedroom and said, “You’ll sleep in that room tonight. The quilts are in the closet. Take whichever you like. I’m going to take a shower and then sleep. Don’t disturb me.” After saying that, she walked into her own bedroom and closed the door. She took a quick shower, then threw herself onto the bed and fell asleep.
