Lang was really angry. She had a feeling that as long as Ruan Chanchan was not in the tribe, she would be able to imprint on Ruan Zeqiu. He could fight with her but he couldn’t fight with her entire hunting team. Once that mer got pregnant, would he still be able to escape her grasp? She didn’t believe that he could!
It was all Ruan Chanchan’s fault! That bitch had fucked her up.
"Achoo!"
Ruan Chanchan turned her head to one side and sneezed loudly. She had just started cooking the bone broth soup and couldn’t help but sneeze due to the hot fumes that were floating over. She scrunched up her face and rubbed the tip of her nose with her fingers and added the spirit dew that she had collected from the forest into the soup. Soon, the fishy scent was no longer spreading in the cave.
It was still there but not that prominent. Seeing this, Ruan Chanchan couldn’t help but chuckle lightly. Heh, it seemed like this was a really good thing. She still had some time left before she could unlock the second level; till then, she could use this spirit dew to cook the hunted meat. At least she could finally eat something decent and fill her stomach for the time being.
The delicious scent of the soup cooked by her started to fill every corner of the cave. And as a gust of wind blew past her cave, the tantalising scent started to scatter all over the tribe. The entire tribe turned to look at the Ruan family cave upon smelling the charming fragrance.
"It’s such a pity that you caused all the mushrooms to scatter on the ground or else this soup would have tasted even better with the mushrooms added in," Ruan Chanchan sighed emotionally. She was looking forward to eating the mushroom bone broth but alas, her dreams were still just dreams.
Ruan Zeqiu touched his nose guiltily and said to his sister, "Is it really that delicious? I think that the soup smells just fine with the bones and meat alone." He still didn’t trust the mushrooms even when his sister told him that the mushrooms could still be eaten. Don’t blame him; he was just being cautious, as he was afraid that his sister might have made a mistake due to her muddled mind back then.
"Its really delicious," Ruan Chanchan responded with a sideways glance; she knew that the mer didn’t believe her and she didn’t care about it. Wait until she cooked these mushrooms and then she would show her brother what he was missing out on.
Ruan Chanchan then added the salt that she had collected in the bowl but of course, before adding it, she started grinding the salt with the pestle that she had made with the stone and poured it all inside the bubbling soup.
Xie Daiyu noticed her actions and his eyes flickered with a knowing look. It seemed like grinding the rock salt was a much better way than rubbing it coarsely on the meat. He noted it down in his heart and decided that he was going to tell it to his mother. Maybe then she would understand that Ruan Chanchan was not as foolish as she thought.
His eyes then fell on the jerky that Ruan Chanchan had hung around the cave and asked, "Is this the jerky that you kept talking about?"
Ruan Chanchan raised her head and turned to look at the dried meat. She nodded and responded, "That’s right. I made them just a few days ago; don’t they look much more well-preserved than the meat that the processing team gave you?" this was something Ruan Chanchan was very proud of. This jerky that she made was really nicely done.
"It’s indeed well done," Xie Daiyu praised. He had to admit that this thing called jerky looked really good. It was very well preserved with no signs of moulding, something that happened quite a lot with the meat that they preserved.
Hearing his praise, Ruan Chanchan puffed out her chest and started to cook the bone broth with renewed enthusiasm. But when she was done, Ruan Chanchan was stupefied and a bit embarrassed because she realised that she didn’t have anything to ladle this soup!
She turned to look at Ruan Zeqiu and Xie Daiyu before awkwardly saying to them, "Hey, can you two find something for me?"
"What? What do you want, sister?"
"What do you need, Chanchan?"
The two mers spoke at the same time and when they heard each other’s responses, they both turned and looked at one another.
With a nerve almost on the verge of exploding in his neck, Ruan Zeqiu said to Xie Daiyu, "You don’t need to worry about my sister; I am here for her and I can do whatever she asks me to do."
Xie Daiyu simply smiled and replied, "I know. But you are forgetting that I am now the closest person to your sister; it’s only right that I do these odd jobs for her. You can now take a break from these responsibilities."
The two mers stared at one another and sparks started to fly all over the cave; some of them even flew over to Ruan Chanchan and hit her on the forehead.
Ruan Chanchan: "..."
Can you at least wait until I am done speaking? You can fight later on.
She sighed and said, "If you two are done... can you listen to what I want?"
As soon as she finished speaking, the two mers snapped out of their daze and turned to look at Ruan Chanchan with similar flattering smiles on their faces.
"Chanchan, just say what you want to say."
"Sister, I am all ears."
The two mers spoke at the same time but before they could quarrel again, Ruan Chanchan intervened. "I want you to look for a dry piece of wood and carve it into something like this—"
