Hellbound With The Vampire King Chapter 80

Chapter 80: Betrayed

Eiravyn hoped they had not noticed it because he was still unsure what she was, and he did not want many people to start paying attention to his mate.

No matter what happens: he needs to keep her safe.

Maybe later, when Serena was sure of her true potentials and she had gained standing in the kingdom, he would announce to them who she was, but for now he needed to ensure she stayed safe and that is by keeping her powers a secret.

Eiravyn sat quietly beside her on the bench. The urge to take her in his arms to make sure that she was really there with him took over his senses. But he knew he shouldn’t do that as she must be very mad and was blinded by her rage.

Serena was safe and at that moment, nothing else mattered.

He would wait patiently until she was willing and ready to talk to him.

...

Serena did not know where she was headed or where she was, but all she knew was that she needed to be away from all this madness.

The anger and rage consumed her as if possessed, and she was trying her hardest to calm herself from this rage but it kept increasing, caging her in her subconscious, and she was unable to escape from this void.

Never in her life had she been this angry that it frightened her. This feeling was surreal and she felt like she was walking on clouds.

Eiravyn had lied to her, through and through.

He had a bethrothed and never told her about it.

Serena blamed herself mostly, she should have known someone like Eiravyn could not possibly have someone he wanted to marry or someone the people in his kingdom accepted and wanted him to marry. She had been so blinded by her own feelings that she failed to see the reality.

All she wanted right now was to escape this place, leave this made-up story she had created in her head, but the more she tried, the more it felt like she was in a maze.

She was not about to be a mistress in an unknown place, not when everyone in the kingdom thought she was the other girl. And she could never blame Ava, she is just not that kind of girl.

Eiravyn had played them both and now he had lost her in the process.

With that thought going through her mind, Serena ran out of the third floor and followed the invisible trail the steps had created. She tried her best to make sure nobody was trailing after her.

But when she went down to the main floor, she was surprised to see the number of knights guarding the entrance and noticed that at every corner, to hide a knight would stroll around. She was certain she would not be able to get past the gate given the number of guards in the royal house, without getting questioned, since no one knew her, they might mistake her for a thief.

With a shaky breath, she calmed herself and backtracked to the main floor, but instead of going into royal house, Serena took a detour and found herself in the garden. At first, she had been caught by surprise at the beauty of the place.

Almost forgetting her plans to run away from the royal house, she sat down on the bench in the garden as her mind ran back to the conversation she had with Ava and everything she had said.

She also saw how Eiravyn had smiled at her.

The stabbing pain came again to her chest, harder with force, and she moaned.

What happens to her now?

Serena didn’t know what could happen, but all she knew for sure was that she did not want to stay here for another minute.

She would try again to leave the place, maybe when the knights left their duty post.

Serena sat there for an hour; she really needed to talk to her grandmother. She wanted to hear her voice; she felt lonely here, and it was only just her second day here.

She was lost in her thoughts as she longed to go back home, and when she suddenly felt something invading her thoughts.

The vampire king was in her mind — begging for her to talk to him, but Serena forcefully shut it off.

She didn’t know how she did it or care to know how he was in her mind, but all she knew was that she didn’t want to see him nor talk to him.

Serena sat there quietly, her head in her lap, when she heard voices echoing in the corridor leading to the garden, and the voices were growing louder with each passing second.

’They are approaching me!’

Her mind was filled with alarm that she would be caught, and it was barely an hour since she got there. She could not believe they had already discovered where she was.

Hearing the voices echoing within the empty corridor, Serena closed her eyes, waiting to be caught.

From where she was sitting, she saw three looming shadows about to take a turn. Instead of running away or hiding like her instincts were telling her to, Serena could barely manage to move her legs.

She held her breath, knowing soon those shadows would reach her, and she shut her eyes tightly.

The moment she gave up hope, she saw that the three knights stopped walking and stood quietly in the corner, silently watching her.

Why were they not approaching her? Serena thought to herself.

She did not know what to think; she waited for some time thinking they would come now, but they stood in that spot, not moving.

Serena finally released her breath and resumed her earlier position but not for long.

Because soon she heard the last voice she hoped to hear at that moment. Eiravyn’s voice.

And he was ordering the knights to leave the place, but what really struck her the most was that the rage she felt earlier seemed to have reduced greatly, but what she felt now was betrayal.
