Selina Hughes felt her heart racing, palms sweating.
She met Ethan Grant at a villa in the suburbs. Not long after Ethan left, the bodyguards found an eavesdropping device under the leaves of a potted plant in the villa’s living room.
Upon realizing her identity had been exposed, Selina Hughes immediately contacted Vincent Fletcher and fled to Aridia overnight.
After escaping the country, she naturally severed ties with The Jennings Family. Now that she’s against them, she can’t seek their protection anymore, and the bodyguards assigned to her previously couldn’t stay by her side.
Fortunately, one of her bodyguards had an interest in her; she’d long noticed his intentions and took him with her when she fled.

"Ben, if The Jennings Family sent someone, you might not be able to protect me," Selina Hughes said, anxious, as she got into the car.
She urged the bodyguard driving in the front, "Hurry up and drive back to the villa, we better not go out during this time, The Jennings Family might have traced my whereabouts."
The white sedan had just started when it was stopped by a black pickup truck.

A gunshot sounded immediately after his shout.
Selina Hughes was so scared her legs turned to jelly, she crouched in the car, trembling.

The car windows had several bullet holes, and a bloody smell spread.

"Miss, there are too many of them, we might not make it today," Ben said, struggling, clutching a wound on his arm.

As they spoke, someone violently shattered the windshield.
"Miss, I’ll hold them off, you run!" Ben yelled and dashed out to fight those people.
Another round of gunfire erupted.
Selina Hughes kicked off her high heels and started running desperately.
The people Adrian Jennings sent this time were mercenaries kept abroad for years and were all highly skilled.
Even though Ben was a well-trained bodyguard, he had no chance against them.
Ben was quickly subdued.
He was shot twice, once in the thigh and once in the left arm, blood pooling everywhere.
The leader said, "Take him for treatment, don’t let him die."
Soon after, a blonde Aridian mercenary dragged Selina Hughes over, "Caught her."
Selina Hughes kicked and struggled hard, cursing, "Let go of me! You bastards, let go of me!"
The leader slapped her hard, causing her mouth to bleed and her cheek to redden.
"Shut up! If you keep yelling, I’ll cut out your tongue!" The leader’s voice wasn’t loud but had enough menace, words full of ruthlessness.
Selina Hughes was stunned by the slap and scared by his words, she obediently stayed quiet, no longer daring to struggle.
These people didn’t kill her, meaning Adrian Jennings hadn’t yet decided to kill her, their mission was likely just to capture her.
They tied up Selina Hughes, taped her mouth shut, and placed a black canvas bag over her head, throwing her onto the pickup truck roughly.
The vehicle bumped along the road, and after an unknown period, it finally stopped.
She was hoisted up again, taken a small distance, then thrown down violently.
The floor was metal, and upon landing, Selina Hughes felt like all her bones were about to shatter.
With a "thump," she landed on her bottom, the pain causing her to break into a cold sweat.

Footsteps approached.
The sound of a zipper being pulled appeared overhead.
The bag was opened, Selina Hughes’ hair disheveled, eyes full of terror, producing "mmm" noises, she looked extremely scared.
"The boss asked me to let you out, afraid you’d suffocate and it’d be hard to report back," the man laughed slyly, looking at Selina Hughes with perverse eyes, "You do have a bit of beauty, but unfortunately I can’t touch you now, otherwise I’d love to mess you up!"
Selina Hughes’ face turned white, her body trembled with fear.
After the man left, Selina Hughes heard the sound of waves and saw the sea through a small ventilation window, knowing she was on a ship.
The boat rocked and swayed, making her dizzy and nauseated. She had never been on this type of boat, seasick very badly, vomiting everywhere.
No one came to clean up, the stench of vomit lingered in the enclosed space for ages, causing her whole body to be smelly.
