On the last meal, Daisy Ginger didn’t eat either. She paid the bill and went straight back to the car to wait for Edward Stephens.
Sitting in the car, Daisy Ginger rummaged through her bag, but couldn’t find any cigarettes—only a lighter. It dawned on her that being with Edward Stephens for so long had made her quit smoking.
Yet her mood turned sour at that moment, and the craving resurfaced strongly, making her really want to suppress it with nicotine.
Edward Stephens indeed never told her about his time in the United States.

But she knew inside, if Edward Stephens didn’t want to talk, she seemed helpless.
In this relationship, she had to admit, she was indeed the humble one.
"What do I imagine it to be?" She looked at his face. "Why did she come to see you?"
"Daisy Ginger," the man sighed lightly, looked at her pale face, seemingly feeling sorry for her, and reached out to gently hold her close. "I won’t do anything that would hurt you. I’ll handle this. Do you trust me, okay?"
