Leading the operation was Commander Rook, the hardened leader of Black Talon Operatives (BTO), a private military group hired for the dirtiest, most dangerous jobs. Dressed in tactical black gear, his eyes scanned every shadow. "This place reeks of trouble," he muttered, gripping his rifle.
The SUVs came to a halt in front of their target—a decaying residential house, its windows shattered and walls crawling with vines. It was an unlikely place for their mission, but intel confirmed strange activity in the area—people going missing, strange sounds at night, and reports of inhuman figures lurking near the property. Locals had abandoned the entire block weeks ago.
"Move in silence," Rook commanded, stepping out first. His team followed, blending into the darkness like shadows.
Ghost, the team's stealth expert, was the first to disappear, slipping through the gloom. His night-vision goggles glimmered faintly as he whispered through comms, "Perimeter clear. No movement yet."
Behind him walked Shadow, the sniper. She stayed close but alert, her custom rifle ready. "This doesn't sit right," she said quietly, her voice calm despite the tension.
Bulwark, the heavy weapons specialist, cracked his knuckles as he brought up the rear. "Ain't nothing we can't handle," he grunted, his hulking frame a wall of confidence.
Then there was Viper, swift and lethal, holding dual combat knives. He smirked under his mask. "Let's get this done fast. I've got a bad feeling."
Rook motioned them toward the entrance. The front door hung ajar, creaking slightly in the wind. "Eyes open," Rook said, stepping inside. The air was colder here. Dust floated through thin beams of moonlight, and the floor creaked beneath their boots.
Ghost's voice crackled through comms. "Movement upstairs. Something's here."
The team froze. Shadow knelt, scanning the staircase with her rifle. "Confirm?"
A faint dragging noise echoed from above—slow, deliberate. Bulwark tightened his grip on his shotgun. "That ain't human."
Rook signaled silently. "Stack up. We're going in."
