"I'm still not sure about this," Ghost muttered, leaning against a pillar. His arms were crossed tightly over his chest, his stance rigid despite the apparent safety of their surroundings.
Shadow rolled her eyes. "What's the matter? Afraid of a little hot water? It's the first clean thing we've seen in weeks."
"Not clean. Magic." Ghost's voice was sharp. "That's the problem."
Bulwark, already sitting at the edge of the pool, let out a low chuckle. "You can stay dirty and tired if you want. Me? I'll take my chances." Without another word, he dipped his massive frame into the water. The glow seemed to surge as he submerged himself, the light wrapping around him like a second skin.
Rook watched intently, every muscle in his body tense. For a moment, nothing happened. Then Bulwark's breathing eased, his posture relaxing as if a heavy weight had been lifted from his shoulders. When he finally surfaced, the scars on his arms appeared lighter, the tension in his eyes gone.
"Feels… different," Bulwark said, his voice softer than usual. "Better."
Shadow raised an eyebrow. "Different, huh? Let me try." She slid off her leather jacket, revealing the bruises and cuts lining her arms, remnants of their last battle. She dipped one foot into the pool, testing the water before stepping in fully. Like Bulwark, she let out a soft sigh as the glow enveloped her. "Okay, I admit it—this is incredible."
Rook turned to Elysia, who stood silently in the corner, watching. "What's in this water?" he asked, his tone edged with suspicion.

Elysia stepped forward, her movements fluid and unthreatening. "No catch, only choice. You may leave at any time. But the Sanctuary demands respect. Harm it, and it will protect itself."
Rook considered her words, then glanced at the pool. His team was weary, stretched to their breaking point. Whatever this place was, it offered something they hadn't known in weeks—relief.
"Fine," Rook said, stripping off his jacket and boots. He stepped into the water, the warmth sinking into his battered body. For the first time in a long while, he allowed himself to relax.
