Elara struggled against the ropes that bound her to the wooden chair. Her wrists chafed against the coarse fibers, and the blindfold over her eyes pressed heavily against her skin. The cold water lapped at her bare feet, sending chills up her spine. Black feathers floated around her, an eerie contrast against the dark water.

As they navigated through the dimly lit corridors, Darian explained the situation. He had been investigating a series of disappearances, all leading back to this abandoned warehouse. Elara was the only survivor they had found so far.
"What do they want with me?" Elara asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

They reached a large, iron door. Darian pushed it open, revealing a room filled with monitors and surveillance equipment. At the center stood a tall figure, cloaked in shadows.
"Ah, Detective Darian," the figure said, his voice smooth and calculated. "I see you've found my little secret."
"The Watcher," Darian muttered under his breath. "What's your game?"
The Watcher stepped forward, the dim light revealing his face partially obscured by a mask. "This is no game, Detective. This is merely the beginning of something much greater."
Elara felt a surge of fear and anger. "Why me?" she demanded.

Before Elara could react, the room was flooded with a blinding light. The Watcher's laughter echoed through the chamber as Darian shielded her from the intense glare.
