Rook scanned the area as the ground beneath them crackled with embers. "This is it, team," he said, his voice cutting through the chaos. "We either finish this mission or die trying. No second chances."
Bulwark wiped soot from his face, gripping his heavy machine gun. "What's the extraction plan, Commander? Because this place is about to collapse."
Rook pointed toward a distant ridge, barely visible through the fiery haze. "The rendezvous point is on the other side of that ridge. We move now."
Ghost crouched, his movements silent despite the raging fire. "Enemy forces are closing in. They'll block us before we get there."
Shadow, perched atop a piece of rubble, scoped the horizon. "I see them—at least two squads. They're using the fire as cover."
Viper tightened her blades, her expression a mix of defiance and resolve. "Then we cut through them. It's what we do."
Rook nodded. "Stick together. No one gets left behind."
The team moved as one, navigating the fiery ruins with precision. Ghost took point, his silenced pistol dispatching enemies before they could sound the alarm. Shadow provided overwatch, her sniper rifle taking out distant threats. Bulwark covered their rear, his heavy firepower ensuring nothing got too close.
The heat intensified as they approached the ridge. Flames licked at their boots, and the smoke made it hard to breathe. Yet, they pressed on, every step a fight against the elements and the enemy.
Suddenly, an explosion rocked the ground, sending debris flying. The team hit the dirt as a helicopter emerged from the smoke—a gunship, its cannons trained on them.
"Take cover!" Rook shouted, dragging Viper behind a crumbling wall.
The gunship unleashed a hail of bullets, tearing through the landscape. Shadow lined up her shot, her calm demeanor unshaken. "I've got one shot," she said, exhaling slowly.
"Make it count," Rook replied.
The rifle cracked, and the gunship's tail exploded in a fiery burst. It spiraled out of control, crashing into the flames.
"Good shot!" Viper yelled, pulling herself to her feet.
But the celebration was short-lived. Enemy reinforcements swarmed in, their shouts audible even over the roar of the fire.
"This is it!" Rook yelled. "Hold the line!"
The team fought with everything they had, their movements a symphony of skill and determination. Bulwark's gun roared, Ghost's blades flashed, Shadow's rifle cracked, and Viper moved like a whirlwind.
