They shuffled forward in waves, their rotting bodies merging with the sinister aura of the crimson-lit street.
Captain Marcus Kane stood at the edge of the alley, his shotgun resting on his shoulder. "This isn't just a horde," he muttered into his comms. "It's a death trap. Brain, any intel on why they're clustering here?"
Ethan "Brain" O'Connor's voice crackled through the earpiece. "I'm picking up strange heat signatures in the area. It's like they're being drawn to something. Could be a nest or… something worse."
"Figures," Marcus muttered. He turned to the team. "We clear this alley and find out what's luring them in. Blaze, you're up first. Shield, stay close and cover her flank. Quick Shot, keep those rooftops clear."
Jenna "Blaze" Hart stepped forward, the flames from her weapon illuminating her determined face. "Time to turn up the heat," she said with a grin. She unleashed a torrent of fire that roared down the alley, torching the nearest cluster of zombies. The stench of burning flesh filled the air as the creatures crumbled, but more kept coming, their eyes glowing eerily in the crimson light.
Above, Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett was already in position. Her sniper rifle barked, each shot finding its mark with deadly precision. "Rooftops clear for now, but I don't ," she reported. "They're moving too… organized. Something's wrong."
The team pushed forward, Blaze's flamethrower carving a fiery path while Derek "Shield" Coleman protected their rear. His riot shield held firm against the relentless assaults, the thuds of zombie bodies echoing in the narrow space.
Halfway through the alley, Detective Lila "Huntress" Navarro stopped abruptly. She crouched, inspecting the graffiti-covered wall. "These symbols," she murmured, tracing the jagged lines with her gloved fingers. "They're not random. Someone—or something—left these as markers."
Kane joined her, his brow furrowed. "Markers for what?"
Before Lila could answer, a piercing screech cut through the air, unlike any sound they'd heard before. The ground seemed to tremble as a massive figure emerged from the darkness. Its grotesque body towered above the horde, its glowing red eyes locked on the team.
"Brain," Kane barked, "what the hell is that?"
Ethan's voice was shaky. "I… I think you're looking at a Screecher Alpha. They command the hordes. You take it down, the others might scatter."
"Might?" Kane growled, raising his shotgun.
The creature let out another screech, and the zombies surged forward in a frenzy. "Blaze, light it up!" Kane shouted.
The alley turned into a battlefield of fire and fury as the team fought to hold their ground. The Screecher Alpha charged, its claws glinting in the lantern light.
"We end this now," Kane roared, rallying his team for the fight of their lives.
