"Brain, what's the situation?" Marcus barked.
Ethan "Brain" O'Connor's hands flew across his tablet, analyzing live drone feeds. "The horde is accelerating. Their density has doubled in the last two minutes. It's like… the core zombie is summoning reinforcements from underground."
Underground. The word sent a chill through Marcus.
"Blaze, prep the seismic charges," Marcus ordered. "We're going to have to crack the ground open and hope it disrupts whatever's fueling them."
"Seismic charges will work, but it's a one-way ticket," Jenna "Blaze" Hart said, strapping the explosive devices to her utility belt. "Once I plant these, this place is going under."
"That's the risk we're taking," Marcus replied.
Meanwhile, Riley "Quick Shot" Bennett perched atop a broken radio tower, her sniper rifle aimed at the horde. "They're smarter than they look," she murmured over comms. "It's not just mindless marching—they're coordinating."
"Then we hit them where it hurts," said Lila "Huntress" Navarro, crouched nearby, scanning the battlefield through her binoculars. "I've got eyes on their core leader. Big guy, center of the swarm. If we take him out, it might destabilize the rest."
Marcus nodded. "Shield, Huntress, you're with me. Blaze, lay those charges. Quick Shot, cover fire. Brain, guide us to the target."
The team sprang into action. As Blaze sprinted to the edges of the battlefield, planting the seismic charges, Marcus, Lila, and Derek "Shield" Coleman pushed forward into the horde. Shield's reinforced riot gear absorbed blows from the stone zombies as he plowed through, clearing a path for Marcus and Lila.
"Keep moving!" Marcus shouted, firing his shotgun into the encroaching crowd. Chunks of rock flew from the zombies' bodies, but they continued to surge forward, undeterred.
Ahead of them loomed the central figure—a towering zombie coated in layers of molten stone, its glowing red veins pulsing like magma. The creature raised a massive arm, slamming it into the ground, sending a shockwave that staggered the team.
"We're not stopping now!" Marcus yelled.
Riley's voice came over the comms. "Captain, I've got a clear shot. Just say the word."

Blaze's voice crackled through the comms. "Charges are set! Thirty seconds to detonation!"
"Quick Shot, take it down!" Marcus ordered.
Riley steadied her aim and fired. Her bullet pierced the core zombie's head, causing its molten veins to erupt in a fiery explosion. The horde faltered, their movements growing sluggish.
The seismic charges detonated seconds later, collapsing the ground beneath the horde and swallowing the petrified zombies into a fiery abyss.
"Mission accomplished," Marcus said, breathing heavily. "Let's move out before this whole place goes under."
