The ground trembled beneath them. The newly formed mutant colossus stood fifteen feet tall, its body a writhing amalgamation of melted horrors. Faces stretched from its rippling flesh, screaming in agony as its elongated claws scraped against the concrete. Its tongue lashed out like a whip, leaving sizzling marks wherever it touched.
Evelyn's breath caught in her throat. "It's… evolving."
Leon gritted his teeth. "We need a plan. NOW."
Mia took a staggered step back. "How the hell do we kill something that won't stay dead?"
The Flesh Titan let out a deafening roar. The sound shattered windows and sent a shockwave that knocked them off their feet. Lucas hit the ground hard, coughing blood. Reaper dragged him up.
"We need distance!" Reaper shouted.
Evelyn saw it before anyone else. The Titan was shifting. Its mutated flesh began reshaping, tendrils forming into bony spears. Then—
A storm of jagged bone projectiles sliced through the air. One grazed Leon's shoulder, tearing his jacket and splattering blood. Another impaled a nearby burned-out car, the force sending it skidding back.
"They're weapons now?" Mia gasped.
The Titan lunged. Its massive clawed hand swiped through the air, aiming for Evelyn. She rolled away just in time, the impact shattering pavement where she had just been.
"We can't fight this thing like the others!" Evelyn shouted. "We need something bigger!"
Lucas, still dazed, looked toward an abandoned building. His eyes widened.
"There's a fuel truck in there!" he gasped. "If we can lure it—"
"Say no more," Reaper growled. He cocked his rifle and sprinted toward the structure.
Leon fired at the Titan's eyes, trying to blind it. The bullets ripped through its skull, but the wounds sealed instantly. The creature snarled and lashed out with its elongated tongue, wrapping it around Leon's leg.
He screamed as it yanked him into the air.
"LEON!" Mia aimed her pistol and fired, but the Titan swung him like a ragdoll, using his body as a shield.
Reaper reached the fuel truck and smashed the window open. "Cover me!" he yelled, hotwiring the engine.
Evelyn grabbed a flare gun from her belt. "Leon, hang on!"
Leon's head spun. He reached into his jacket and pulled a rusty combat knife. With a pained grunt, he sliced through the tongue, dropping to the pavement with a heavy thud.
The Titan reeled back, roaring in fury.
The fuel truck rumbled to life.
Reaper slammed the gas. "EVERYONE MOVE!"
The truck roared forward—crashing into the Titan's legs! The beast staggered, screeching.
Evelyn aimed her flare gun.
