How to Survive as a BL Villain Chapter 2

Chapter 2: Colliding Paths

Cassian froze where he stood, every nerve on edge. His chest pounded like a drum, and his hands itched to do something anything but his brain refused to cooperate. This was him. The male lead. Leonel. The one person whose presence had the power to unravel everything he thought he knew about this world.

"Uh... hi?" Cassian’s voice barely made it past a squeak. He immediately cursed himself internally. Great start, Cassian. Real intimidating.

Leonel’s gaze didn’t waver. He studied Cassian from head to toe, as if trying to decode every thought running through his mind. Cassian swallowed hard, feeling like a deer caught in headlights.

"You’re... late," Leonel said finally, his tone low, crisp, and absolutely unamused.

Cassian’s brain short-circuited. Late? He was late? How could he even respond? "I-I... sorry! I didn’t mean to..." His words tumbled over each other like stones rolling down a hill.

Leonel’s eyebrow quirked slightly, just enough to send a shiver down Cassian’s spine. Why is he looking at me like that? The room felt smaller, warmer, suffocating in a way that made Cassian hyper-aware of every breath, every twitch of his hands.

"Follow me," Leonel said finally, turning on his heel. His long strides ate up the space between them in a heartbeat. Cassian stumbled to catch up, tripping over the edge of the rug and nearly face-planting. Leonel glanced over his shoulder just enough to let Cassian know he had seen it.

Great. First impression: complete disaster.

The hallway they walked through was quiet, almost eerily so, and Cassian’s mind whirled. Every step echoed in his ears, and the tightness in his chest didn’t let up. He wasn’t supposed to feel like this. He wasn’t supposed to notice Leonel this much.

Leonel opened the door to a spacious room, sunlight spilling across polished floors and sleek furniture. Cassian’s eyes widened, taking in the surroundings. Wow... even the lighting in here makes him look like he walked out of a magazine.

"Sit," Leonel commanded, pointing to a chair by the window. The single word was enough to make Cassian’s knees wobble as he obeyed, like some puppet tangled in its strings.

Leonel leaned against the edge of a desk, arms crossed, studying him again. Silence stretched, heavy and tense. Cassian’s mind raced through all the possible lines he could say. None seemed good enough.

Finally, he muttered, "I-I’m... not... usually this nervous."

Leonel’s lips twitched. For a fraction of a second, a small, almost imperceptible smirk crossed his face before vanishing back into cold neutrality.

"Obviously," Leonel said, voice smooth but cutting. "Most people don’t stumble when they see me."

Cassian’s ears burned. He opened his mouth, then closed it. What could he even say? Yeah, thanks for noticing?

The tension cracked just slightly when a soft buzz came from Cassian’s pocket. He fumbled for his phone, checking the notification. Aiden. The sight of his friend’s name reminded him that the world hadn’t completely tilted off its axis yet. He smiled faintly, and for a moment, Leonel’s gaze softened not much, just enough to confuse him.

"What’s so amusing?" Leonel asked, voice light but inquisitive.

Cassian blinked. Oh no. Did he see me smiling at my phone?

"N-nothing," he stammered. He quickly hid the phone, but the moment of human connection lingered longer than expected. Leonel’s gray eyes seemed to linger on him longer than necessary, and Cassian’s stomach did that familiar flip again.

"You’re... different from what I expected," Leonel said suddenly, breaking the silence. His voice wasn’t harsh; it was measured, curious.

Cassian blinked, tilting his head. "Different how?"

Leonel’s gaze softened fractionally. "You’re... not afraid. Not exactly." He paused, like he was considering his words carefully. "Most people would have run the moment they saw me like this."

Cassian’s mind went blank. Run? No one’s ever told me I’m brave before. I’m more like... running headfirst into trouble without thinking. But... that counts as brave?

"I... I guess I don’t really have the luxury of running," Cassian admitted, voice quieter.

Leonel studied him for a long moment. The quiet hum of the room filled the space between them, thick and potent. And in that silence, something unspoken shifted. Neither of them moved, yet the air between them was charged, like the calm before a storm.

Finally, Leonel’s phone buzzed. He glanced at it, then back at Cassian. "You’re staying in the city, right?"

Cassian nodded. "Yeah... I mean, I have no choice."

Leonel’s jaw tightened slightly. "Good. Then we’ll see how... this goes."

Cassian swallowed, unsure whether that was a threat or a promise. Maybe both.

And as Leonel finally walked toward the door, leaving Cassian to process the intensity of their encounter, Cassian realized with a sinking heart that his ordinary life was over. This wasn’t just a world he’d stumbled into. This was a script he was now part of and Leonel was the center of it all.

And Cassian had no idea how dangerou or how thrilling it was about to get.
