Suizi felt as if an invisible slap had just landed smack, splattering on her face.
A few of her colleagues in the meeting also wore bewildered expressions.
Didn’t they just discuss how family members should not disrupt the office, and here comes the brother-in-law?!
Suizi’s face burned up as she hurriedly stood up, putting on a brave front:
"My husband is merely demonstrating incorrect behavior for you all. Please don’t follow suit."
Having said that, she was ready to pull Yu Jingting out of the room.
But Yu Jingting, oblivious to the chaos, rushed over and grabbed Suizi’s shoulder.
"Where are you hurt?!"
"What?" Suizi was bewildered.
"Didn’t they say that woman stabbed you?! Let me see!"
Yu Jingting’s mind was in overdrive. Having just returned to the company, he heard that his wife was injured by someone. The rumor said that Suizi, the dedicated worker, had come straight to the office after being released from the hospital.
This scared Yu Jingting so much that he ran over right away.
"Not at all. Who told you that--" Suizi caught sight of her subordinates’ eager faces in the corner of her eye, her heart sinking in dismay.
Now it’s really getting out of hand. The Director’s family member taking the lead in breaking the rules, so embarrassing.
"Really not hurt?! You better not be cheating me!" Yu Jingting held onto Suizi’s shoulders, not letting her escape, his eyes scanning over her, trying to find any sign of harm.
"Why are you blushing?"
"I’m full of vitality!" Suizi snapped back irritably. Her dignity was all but gone at this point, might as well just go with it!
The spectating Xiao Li couldn’t hold his tongue and threw in his two cents, "Why did you turn so pale all of a sudden?"
"Winter’s candle!"
The remaining few people all shrugged in unison.
Suizi’s face turned an even deeper shade of red.
Everyone understood that this was dialogue from the play "Smartly Taking Weibei Mountain."
Being publicly teased by her subordinates, Director Xiao Chen wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
At this point, Yu Jingting had determined that Suizi was fine and was no longer tense. Faced with this public embarrassment, he didn’t seem awkward at all, but even made a joke with everyone:
"Sky King Covers Land Tiger!"
A few of his subordinates together replied, "Pagoda Suppresses River Demon!"
With her hand on her forehead, Suizi was at a loss for words at this hilariously absurd atmosphere. If she weren’t the main character in this, she might have found it all rather amusing.
"Director, no need to worry. Our school’s family members are all very aware. The brother-in-law didn’t come here to make trouble. Instead, he is here to bring joy and increase our work efficiency," Xiao Li said.
Yu Jingting waved his hand, looking full of style, "This work enthusiasm is great, keep it up ~"
Suizi felt awkward, he really was... As long as he’s not uncomfortable, then the ones to feel uncomfortable are others!
After pulling Yu Jingting into her office and understanding the whole story, Suizi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.
"So, you were fooled by baseless rumors? Where did your intelligence go, believing such nonsense?"
With the way Suizi values her life, if she really had a knife wound, there’s no way she would work with an injury.
If she required any medical checks, she would complete them all, she wouldn’t leave the hospital unless the doctors kicked her out. As someone who values her family’s happiness, how could she not cherish her life? Life is so good, only fools would want to die.
Yu Jingting had recovered by now, realizing that his previous behavior was just a tad foolish.
"If someone told you that I was injured, would you calmly think it through?" He attempted to restore some dignity for himself.
Suizi nodded in agreement at this.
Indeed, if someone told her that Yu Jingting or anyone else in her family was injured, she wouldn’t consider the veracity first; she would only worry about her loved ones.
"Why are you secretly laughing?" Yu Jingting was annoyed.
Suizi motioned him over with her hand. Thinking that Suizi was going to mock him, he moved closer, ready to give her a retaliatory nibble.
"Mwah!" Suizi gave him a kiss on the lips, "I like it when you care about me."
Yu Jingting was instantly soothed, no longer irritable.
Suizi had deflected Shen Liangyin’s manipulative tactics.
Moved by Yu Jingting, Suizi left work a bit early in the afternoon and sat on the back seat of his bicycle as he took her out for snacks.

Yu Jingting and Suizi stood side by side, each holding a skewer of piping hot barbecue.
This was not a formal restaurant, just a casual stall by the roadside. The current crackdown wasn’t very strict, so some people took the opportunity to set up these stalls.
Probably fearing a sudden inspection, the stall owner was ready to run at any moment, so not even chairs were set up—anyone who wanted to buy skewers had to stand and eat.
Suizi was overjoyed, barbecue sprinkled with cumin, the peak of life.
Only, leaving the children with the old folks whilst they sneaked out to enjoy a barbecue date, she felt a bit guilty.

There was some wind at that moment, Yu Jingting was scared that Suizi would catch a cold, so he stood by her blocking the wind while he himself, like a warrior, faced the wind while eating skewers!

Suizi held the skewer in her mouth, freeing both hands to clap for him.
When Shen Liangyin got out of the hospital — it was a minor skin injury and didn’t require hospitalization, she had insisted on being admitted just to gain Yu Jingting’s sympathy — she was in a foul mood. Not wanting to stay in the hospital any longer once she discovered that Yu Jingting hadn’t come but Suizi had, as soon as she left the hospital, she saw the couple eating skewers together.
With Yu Jingting’s height, he stood out wherever he was.
Shen Liangyin felt like a hammer was smashing into her face. She wanted to go over and stir things up, but remembering how Suizi had teased her eyebrows and her painful memories, Shen Liangyin quickly turned around. She didn’t want to see them!
"Hey, doesn’t that person look a bit like Shen Liangyin?" Suizi pointed ahead.
"Whether it is or not, what does it have to do with us?" Yu Jingting didn’t want to hear that name anymore, it was bad luck.
The skewers they had ordered to take away were ready. There were no plastic bags, so Suizi could only hold them in her hand, like she was holding a torch.
