I Am Cultivating in the Apocalypse Chapter 102

Zhang Qiang was lucky. The vehicle flipped onto the driver’s side, and he happened to be sitting on the rock that had come through the window. With an outstretched hand holding the bomb, he crawled out.

He didn’t have time to ponder the strangeness of it all; trembling, he crawled out as fast as he could. He admitted he was scared to death, and right now, all he cared about was getting away from this place, though it felt like some liquid had poured onto his head.

"What’s that smell? Why is there a scent of gasoline?"

"PFFT, who the hell splashed my face with gasoline?!" Find the newest release on NovelHub(.)net

"It’s true, it’s really raining gasoline!"

Those inside the vehicle were stuck and couldn’t move; only a few managed to crawl out of the windows. The people inside grew frantic. "Stop talking nonsense! You guys outside, move! Are you dreaming? At a time , where would there be..."

Before they could finish speaking, more than a dozen lit branches flew over from the distance, tracing beautiful arcs in the sky before completely igniting the gasoline-drenched vehicle.

With a loud BOOM, the scene exploded into chaos, and the pitch-black Wu City finally witnessed two brilliant sparks of fire blossom.

The screams from those inside the vehicle grew louder, and some people who had just crawled out couldn’t escape in time, igniting instantly. They ran while screaming, even rolling on the ground to no avail.

Jing Shu, imitating 360-degree rotating sprinklers, had spared no expense in dousing the surroundings with gasoline. With no firefighting equipment at hand, it was impossible to extinguish the flames.

Wang Dazhao’s legs trembled as he watched everything unfold, gasping heavily. He lay on the other side, his body continuously breaking out in a cold sweat. Watching the hellish scene, he suddenly understood what Jing Shu had meant earlier when she said, "You better run fast, or you might die."

Luckily, he was always prepared. The moment the car flipped, he crawled out without hesitation, before anyone else even reacted.

It’s good to be alive, Wang Dazhao thought.

BOOM! One after another, both vehicles exploded, sending the smell of charred flesh and burnt odors floating through the air, along with a small mushroom cloud soaring into the sky. For a few kilometers around, one could see the thick smoke and large fire. But the screams gradually diminished, growing fainter and fainter until they almost completely ceased.

Jing Shu had already taken her repeating crossbow and was searching in the darkness for any survivors, picking off enemies who weren’t on fire one by one. She did not kill the innocent, but those who dared to bomb her villa had to be ready to die.

As she eliminated targets, she gingerly collected the intact conical boulders into her space. Some had shattered or broken after colliding at high speed with the vehicles. Out of twenty-five launched, only eighteen were retrieved. It took her a whole day to form just two.

"Help! Somebody, help!" Zhang Qiang desperately slapped his own face and shoulders. He had only just felt something trickling onto his face when the fire had already erupted.

This robust scream, like that of a stuck pig, caught Jing Shu’s attention. Turning her head to look, wasn’t this tall, two-meter man holding a suitcase none other than Zhetian’s Number Three?

Eyeing the suitcase, Jing Shu’s eyes lit up again. She fetched a climbing rope from her space and lassoed the man from behind, quickly seizing the suitcase without a word, then kicked the tall figure to the ground. She stomped on him vigorously back and forth and discovered that, indeed, it could extinguish the flames!

The tall man’s screams, like a pig being slaughtered, rose and fell.

With the tall man underfoot, Jing Shu’s gaze shifted to the case. It wasn’t locked. The latch opened with a press. Against the backdrop of firelight, Jing Shu saw six secured hand grenades remaining in the box, marked with ’MK3’.

That’s right, the MK series has been a classic grenade used by America since World War I, also known as the pineapple grenade. The MK3 series, which has evolved to the present, is currently in active service, known for its power! It once held the reputation of being able to obliterate anything within a fifteen-meter radius.

Jing Shu lovingly caressed the hand grenades.

How wonderful! Now I have another life-saving skill. A pity there are only six. My efforts today, spending so much and losing those giant stones, weren’t in vain.

Indeed, Zhetian only used two grenades during the police station raid. Now they have extras for blowing up oil bases—probably a new perk from their superiors. I should even consider becoming a double agent, first to trick them out of a batch of grenades and guns.

She closed the case and immediately stashed the grenades in her space. It’s best to keep such life-saving items readily accessible at all times.

"Jing Shu?" Wang Dazhao was drawn over by the sound of screams like a stuck pig. "Are you alright? Did you get the bombs?" Seeing Zhang Qiang pinned helplessly underfoot, Wang Dazhao swallowed hard. How much strength would that take?

"Mhm, I’ve put them away for now. And this must be Zhetian’s Number Three, right?" said Jing Shu, yanking up the tall man.

Wang Dazhao saw the man’s burnt-off hair and eyebrows, and half his face scorched beyond recognition. Had the man not been tall—a distinguishing feature—he wouldn’t have recognized him.

"That’s him, Zhang Qiang," the man gasped. "Zhetian’s Number Two is Shangguan Jun, and Zhetian’s leader has no name. Rumor has it this organization is national. Our leader here is called Code 08, and apparently, there are seven others spread across the country. The person you asked me to inquire about, I only know a little bit: he’s called Code Zero, and he only contacts leaders with ’Code’ designations."

"It was Zhetian’s Number Two, Shangguan Jun, who ordered the capture of those people. As for our leader, Code 08, I haven’t even seen him. He only gives verbal commands for the two of us to carry out..."

As they were speaking, the sound of a car approached. From afar, Jing Shu spotted her family’s vehicle followed by three patrol cars, their headlights illuminating Jing Shu, Wang Dazhao, and the half-dead Zhang Qiang in their grasp.

A BYD Song screeched to a halt, and Mrs. Jing ran out as if frantic, cursing and crying at the same time.

"You little rascal, can’t you stop making me worry so much? We waited over there for a long time and didn’t see anyone on a bicycle show up. Instead, Officer Yang Yang was the first to arrive at the prearranged spot. Then all of a sudden we saw the sky lit up as if on fire, this area was ablaze, and we hurried over here. Thank goodness you’re alright!"

The minibus occasionally crackled with the sound of burning corpse oil.

The patrol cars, just like last time, discharged over thirty Armed Police officers. They shivered at the sight of the grim scene and the charred bodies, including a charred car with a huge rock inside.

Officer Yang Yang’s handsome face finally showed surprise as he casually inspected a few bodies with his flashlight and said,

"Miss Jing, can you explain what happened here? The giant rocks and rubble, the strong smell of gasoline, and bodies with arrows in them—did you shoot them? Don’t be nervous, I’m just curious."

If the villa slaughter of dozens of people last time was a coincidence, then this time, luring her parents away and then single-handedly burning over a hundred people to death was no accident. Her parents had naively thought they were dealing with two separate groups of assailants, but he knew it was only one. This meant that this time, the woman had acted deliberately.
