At his words, Vera Wave froze as if immobilized by a spell from the Monkey King, her breathing instinctively growing fainter.

She struggled, trying to break free from his embrace, but Kris Cooper immediately tightened his arms.

Vera Wave let out a huge sigh of relief. Afraid he might change his mind, she hurried into the restroom, stepped onto the bath towel, and pulled the door shut tightly. She undressed and sat on the toilet, but the thought of Kris Cooper standing right outside made her blush furiously.
With him right outside the door, how could she possibly go?!
"Kri... Brother Kris, it’s too cold out there. Why don’t you go back to the bedroom first?"
Detecting the unease in her voice, Kris Cooper’s lips curved into a slight smile. He deliberately made a few audible footsteps as if walking away.
Hearing his footsteps fade away, Vera Wave finally relaxed. She quickly relieved herself, washed her hands, and pulled open the restroom door—only to see Kris Cooper standing right there.

Vera Wave had no energy to argue. Steeling herself, she walked over, reached out, and put her arms around his neck.
He lifted her into his arms, carried her back to the bedroom, and laid her on the bed. Then, he walked around the bed and lay down beside her.
Vera Wave quietly scooted toward the edge of the bed, but before she could get far, the man behind her reached out a large hand, pulled her back, and held her firmly in his embrace.
