The person who had feigned unconsciousness all this time finally lifted her face cautiously. Seeing that there was no one else in the car, she quickly got out of his embrace.
Noticing a lint ball on her clothes, Kris Cooper reached out to grab Vera Wave as she attempted to slip away.
"Where do you think you’re going?!"
"Aren’t we... going to eat?" Vera Wave asked with a smile.

Leisurely following her out of the car, Kris Cooper looked at the hurried girl ahead. He took out his phone and dialed Tommy Taylor’s number.
"Look into it. Find out what the deal is with that Robert Taylor, and give me an explanation first thing tomorrow morning."
"Understood, Mr. President."
Vera Wave walked a distance ahead and, seeing him still standing by the car, called out.
Kris Cooper clicked the car key, locking the car, and leaned against its body.
What was he up to now?
She came back, frowning at him. "Why aren’t you moving?"
He nonchalantly swung the car keys in his hand, ignoring her.
"Hey, I’m talking to you!"
"My name isn’t ’Hey’!"
Vera Wave bit her lip and turned to walk away. After a few steps, she glanced back and saw he was still standing in the same spot. Frustrated, she clenched her small fists, spun around, and marched back to him. Standing on her tiptoes, she leaned close to his ear and roared.
"Hubby, hubby, hubby... Can we go now?"
"My ears aren’t deaf. You don’t have to shout so loudly next time," Kris Cooper said, catching her waist and whispering into her ear, "unless we’re in bed, of course!"
