She was completely unprepared when he pulled her. She lost her balance and tumbled right onto his lap.
"AH!" Her nose slammed into his belt buckle. Vera Wave cried out, clutching her smarting nose as she lifted her face from his waist. "You... What do you think you're doing—"
Before she could finish her accusation, her left hand felt something strange. What did she touch? she wondered, her gaze shifting downwards in confusion.
"Shouldn't I be the one asking you what *you're* trying to do?"
The man's voice sounded again, a little hoarse but incredibly seductive.
Coming to her senses, Vera quickly snatched her hand back, her face flushing as she tried to escape.
"Well, I won't disturb your meal. Bye... Bye."
Just as she skirted the circular bed, the man's voice called out again.
Vera forced herself to appear calm and turned back. "Is there... something else?"
Kris Cooper gestured towards himself with a tilt of his chin. "Touched me and now you want to leave?" The implication was clear: if one was 'selling services', they couldn't just be touched for free.
Vera swallowed hard. "How... How much?!"
Kris Cooper nearly choked on his own spit. He'd only meant to tease her a little, but this development was not at all what he'd imagined! That little brat! He gritted his teeth.
Vera's temper flared. "Are you made of gold, silver, or encrusted with diamonds? I just brushed against your clothes, and that's ten thousand?!"
Kris Cooper smirked. "Direct contact is also an option. Twenty thousand!"
Vera blushed all the way to her neck. "Who... Who'd want to touch you?!"
"You already did, just a moment ago," he reminded her opportunely.
Vera was on the verge of tears. She'd worked so hard to sell that card and make six thousand, only for a single mistake to plunge her back into the red!
"Um..." She walked back to his side, forcing a fawning smile. "Could we maybe... get a discount? Even students get half-price at those 5A tourist attractions!"
Kris Cooper rolled his eyes. 5A tourist attractions... What a comparison. Is she planning to scrawl 'Vera Wave was here' on his pants or something?!
"Kris..." Vera continued her sugar-coated offensive.
"Brother Kris, please, I'm begging you, can't you give me a discount?! If you give me a discount, I..."
That "Brother Kris" finally seemed to move Kris Cooper.
"I..." Vera reached out and placed her hand on his leg. "I'll give you a massage."
For the sake of money, Vera was ready to go all out.
"Alright. Half price then. Five thousand."
"Could it be... even cheaper?"
Vera was pushing her luck, but she couldn't help it; she was desperate for money.
Kris Cooper sighed inwardly. Not having the heart to tease her anymore, he gestured lightly with his chin towards the pizza box in front of him.
"Help me eat the cheese in the middle, and I'll give you another ten percent off."
She only ever liked to eat the cheesy center of the pizza slices. Whenever they ate pizza together in the past, she would always devour the tips of all the slices, leaving him the outer crusts.
Vera looked at the pizza in front of him, blinking.
Did I hear him right? Was this guy an idiot? The cheesy center was the best part; how could he possibly not like it?
Then, she nodded vigorously.
"No problem! I'll make sure to eat every last bit of that cheese for you!"
Getting to eat and pay less? Such a wonderful deal—why wouldn't I take it?!
