This time, Tommy Taylor gave in readily and didn’t raise any objections.
Early the next morning, Vera Wave got out of bed.
She first went to the restroom to shower, put on the dress she’d prepared the night before, wore her heels, and looked at herself in the mirror by the hallway. Satisfied, she nodded, grabbed her bag, and left home.
As this was about succeeding or failing at work, she had, of course, made an extra effort to look more beautiful. She even put on the high heels she rarely wore.

Behind the desk, a high-backed chair faced away from her. From her angle, she could only see half of a person’s head visible above the back of the chair, and an arm resting casually on the chair’s armrest.
Between pale, slender fingers was a phone, and he was... playing a game!
She recognized that interface; it was for the game "King’s Journey."
Was this a joke? Playing games during work hours? This guy was way too casual, wasn’t he?
"Ahem!" Vera cleared her throat lightly and then spoke sweetly, "Hello, I’m here for the interview. This is my resume."
She wasn’t the boss, so she couldn’t dictate what others did at work; her main concern was to land the job. Since it was a male superior conducting the interview, she resolved to use all her feminine prowess to win him over!
"Place it on the table with your ID Card!"
His voice was a bit muffled, as if he had something in his mouth. He couldn’t be playing games and eating at the same time, could he? That was just too much!
Vera responded obediently.
Accompanying the sound of clashing blades was uplifting music.
Vera had also played "King’s Journey," so she immediately recognized it as the victory music.
His slender fingers tightened on the phone. The chair creaked slightly, and the man, whose back had been to her, turned around.
Vera immediately beamed a sweet smile, ready to deploy her full arsenal of charm to win over the interviewer.
But upon seeing his smiling face, her mouth, which had been fixed in a sweet smile, instantly widened into a capital ’O’.
Did she owe him from a past life? Why did she keep running into this jinx wherever she went?!
