A moment later, the call connected.
"Hello, this is the Logistics Department."
An unfamiliar female voice sounded from the other end.
"I’m looking for Vera Wave."
"Please hold on." Yola Dowry, who answered the phone, immediately turned her head. "Vera, it’s for you!"
Vera got up in confusion. It was only her first day of work. Why would anyone call for her?
"I want the couple’s private room on the second floor. If you don’t secure it, this month’s funding will be deducted!"
On the phone, the man’s voice was domineering and direct. Before she could speak, the call disconnected.
Vera frowned slightly, then slapped her forehead.
She almost forgot; that guy had asked her to reserve a table at their restaurant!
After hanging up, she glanced at her watch. It was already 11:38 AM.
"Song, what time do we get off work?"
"11:45. We have lunch, then start again at 1:00 PM."
Seeing it was almost time, Vera quickly grabbed her bag and made some brief preparations.
Noticing the phone on her desk, she suddenly had an idea. She walked over and pressed the call history button. The screen displayed the extension number of the recent call: 3100.
"Yola, which department is 3100?"
Vera was taken aback. "Then... do you guys know if there’s an Assistant named Tommy Taylor in any department?"
"Tommy Taylor?" Yola thought for a moment. "I don’t think we have an assistant with the surname Taylor."
"Why wouldn’t there be? Isn’t the new CEO’s Assistant surnamed Taylor?" Song interjected, picking up a report from the table. "I just went to the CEO Office to deliver some materials and saw him there."
"So, this Tommy Taylor you mentioned, what does he look like?" Vera immediately asked Song.
"He’s tall and slim, looks to be in his thirties, wears glasses, and seems quite scholarly," Song described.
Vera immediately connected Song’s description with the Tommy Taylor she had met.
So Kris Cooper’s best friend was the CEO’s Assistant! No wonder that guy could work in the CEO Office; even the Sales Director had to give him face.
At the mention of the CEO’s Assistant, Yola also perked up with excitement.
"Song, did you see the new CEO then?"
"Where would I get the chance to see him!" Song shrugged. "The CEO Office isn’t a place people like us can just walk into."
"I heard them chatting before," Yola said, resting her chin on her hand, her face full of admiration. "They said the CEO is only in his twenties and founded his own software company while he was still a teenager studying abroad. Apparently, he’s not only incredibly talented but also extremely handsome. If only I could get a chance to meet him!"
Song unceremoniously dashed her hopes. "You should focus on more practical things. The CEO Office has a private express elevator, and even the parking lot is exclusive. Unless there’s a meeting, how would small-timers like us ever get a chance to attend the CEO’s meetings?"
Yola chuckled. "I’m just daydreaming, aren’t I?"
Vera couldn’t help but feel curious too. "You’re all talking so excitedly about him. What’s this CEO’s name?"
"The Chairman’s surname is Cooper, so his must be Cooper too. As for his first name..." Yola frowned in thought. "I think I heard them saying ’Nick, Nick.’ That’s probably his English name!"
"Forget about Nick, let’s go get lunch first," Song said, turning off her computer. "Vera, wait for me while I pop into the restroom, then we’ll take you to the Staff Dining Hall to get a meal card."
"No need, I have plans for lunch today." Vera glanced at her watch and quickly grabbed her handbag. "I’ll head off first then. See you all this afternoon!"
