Lifting her torn palm, she brought it to her mouth and gently blew on it, lightly shaking her hand afterward.
Seeing her actions, Kris Cooper reached out and caught her hand.
His fingers inadvertently pressed down on her ’Tiger’s Mouth’ (the area between the thumb and the index finger), causing the young girl to grimace in pain.
As someone like her who was always pampered, she couldn’t bear such pain.
He carefully moved his hand from where it had pressed hers, gently supporting her palm to inspect it. Confirming that it was just a minor cut, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.
She could even hurt herself while trying to hit someone. He was truly speechless. If he had known earlier, he wouldn’t have handed her the vase to vent her anger.
Irritated, Kris Cooper casually pulled her onto his lap, one hand supporting her palm and the other grabbing his phone.
"Buy a box of band-aids, bring up some cotton swabs, alcohol... and gauze."
After a moment, a knock came at the door.
Tommy Taylor walked in, handed over a small transparent medical box, and placed it on the table.
He simply ignored the intimate position of the two in the room.
As soon as she saw him, Vera Wave started to get up anxiously.
"Don’t move!" Kris Cooper tightened his grip on her wrist, then took a cotton swab Tommy Taylor handed him and dipped it in alcohol. "Bear with it; it might hurt a little."
He carefully cleaned her wound. Seeing the young girl wince and furrow her brow in pain, he frowned, leaned in, and blew on her injury. He then took a band-aid Tommy Taylor handed him and carefully applied it.
"Assistant Taylor!" Vera Wave, still worried about the situation downstairs, asked, "Um... did you see any police when you came up?"
"But... someone was injured downstairs. Weren’t the police called?"
Seeing her nervousness, Tommy Taylor gave her a reassuring smile. "I’ve taken care of that situation. Just enjoy your meal."
"Oh!" Vera Wave responded, wanting to ask more, but Kris Cooper had already moved his hand away after applying the band-aid. "You can go now. I won’t be going to the office this afternoon."
Tommy Taylor cleared the miscellaneous items from the table and left the private room.
"Ah!" Vera Wave sighed. "Having a powerful backer really makes a difference. You can just not go to work if you don’t feel like it... Wait, what time is it?"
Mentioning work, she hurriedly looked at her watch.
The time displayed was 12:57.
Vera Wave leaped up to run but was immediately pulled back by Kris Cooper.
"You haven’t even eaten. Where are you going?"
"To work, of course. Unlike you, I can’t just come and go as I please."
"You’re injured, and you still want to go to work?"
Kris Cooper gently uncurled her clenched fingers, took the gauze, and carefully wrapped her four fingers, leaving out the thumb.
"Please, do you even know how to bandage something? It’s not my fingers that are hurt."
He ignored her ridicule, meticulously wrapping her right hand’s fingers layer by layer, and then her thumb. Soon, her hand was swaddled into what looked like a little white steamed bun.
"Alright, this way it won’t aggravate the wound. What would you like to eat? Go ahead and order."
Vera Wave lifted her right arm to look at her bun-like hand.
Well, although it was wrapped rather clumsily, looking quite pitiful, the way her fingers were bound actually kept the ’Tiger’s Mouth’ area from being pressed. That way, it wouldn’t aggravate the wound. If she didn’t intentionally move it, she could hardly feel any pain.
"I appreciate the kind gesture, but I still need to get back to work!"
Just as she was about to leave, she was once again pulled back, tumbling into the man’s arms.
