The little girl turned over, burrowing like a small animal, and found a comfortable position to continue sleeping.
Her wide bathrobe had already slipped halfway off, revealing a smooth back to him.
He buried his face in her neck, extending an arm to embrace her from behind, his chest pressed against her back, a primal sensation stirring deep within him.
His hand lifted, resting on her arm.
The little girl was completely unguarded; with just a little force, he could turn her around and have his way with her.
Kris Cooper tightened his fingers, then slowly relaxed them. Finally, he stretched out to pull the thin blanket over her, covering her snugly from head to toe.
If he were to force her now, the little girl would surely think of him as a rap|ist, and it would be hard to ever make her love him.
The night faded into dawn.
Vera Wave yawned as she crawled out of bed, the first thing she did was look around.
She had the big bed all to herself; there was no one else on either side.
Noticing her bathrobe slipping down, she hurriedly tightened it, tiptoeing to the door and cracking it open to peek outside.
The living room was quiet.
The bathroom door was ajar, and the lights were off inside. He seemed not to be around.
Feeling a flicker of joy, she quickly ran inside, slipped into the bathroom, and returned shortly after, heading back to the bedroom.
As she passed the side of the coffee table, her eyes caught a piece of paper placed on top.
Feeling a spark of excitement, Vera stepped back two paces and picked up the paper.
The paper was written in her handwriting; it was his copy of the contract from last night.
Feeling a thrill, she immediately grabbed the pen from the table, leaned over the coffee table, and quickly added a clause in the blank space below.
"Party A’s Obligation: To ensure Party B’s ability to repay debts, Party A should try their best to protect Party B from being bullied by others and should not demand compensation for this..."
A contract can’t be entirely her responsibility; he should have some obligations too.
There was a light sound at the door.
Vera quickly finished writing her added clause and placed the contract back in its original position.
The door swung open, and Kris Cooper walked in wearing sportswear, carrying a breakfast in his hand.
Noticing her movement, he gave a puzzled glance at the coffee table.
"What are you doing?"
"I’m... tidying the room, didn’t we agree that I’d do the chores to repay the debt?" Vera found the sheet from her bag, and without a shred of politeness, added "Tidying Room" to it, hesitating slightly as she reached the price column.
Blowing his hair only earned her fifty dollars; she’d be repaying this till ages if it’s just that. No, she had to charge more this time.
Thus, with a resolute bite of her lip, she wrote down 100.
"There, your signature!"
Kris Cooper glanced over the sheet in his hand.
"Is this ten dollars, or a hundred?!"
"Of course, it’s a hundred. Ten dollars wouldn’t even cover a breakfast, let alone I... I’ve been tidying for an hour now. An hourly worker would charge more than this, right?!"
From the time he left until now, it hadn’t even been an hour. Was she tidying in her sleep?
Never mind, he was in a good mood today and wouldn’t argue with her.
Taking the pen from her hand, he briskly signed his name.
Seeing him sign without a hitch, Vera’s little face brightened, and reclaiming the sheet, she willingly took the breakfast from him.
"Leave this to me. Look at you all sweaty. Why don’t you go wash your hands first, and then I’ll get your meal ready right away!"
