Lis floated quietly in mid-air, gazing at the World Tree Yggdrasil that had suddenly appeared before him, utterly unclear about what had happened.
After being enveloped by the sudden burst of colored brilliance, he appeared here.
Although he had guessed that Demogorgon's plan was related to the World Tree, why had he appeared here?
It certainly wasn't Demogorgon's doing, as if possible, he would have simply squeezed Lis to death directly. Why would he go to such lengths?
Most importantly, while Lis could feel the fantastical colored brilliance surrounding his body contained immense strength, he didn't sense any threat.
It seemed... as though the World Tree before him was protecting him?
Lis was somewhat unsure, and he didn't know how to communicate with the majestic being before him.
In his past life as a gamer, all information about the World Tree Yggdrasil was acquired from books and legends, and no player ever claimed to have seen the World Tree with their own eyes.
The World Tree was different from the gods, after all, in the later "Twilight of the Gods" version, all the gods fell from their Divine Thrones located high in the sky, walking the world in the form of Saints.
So, to the players, the gods felt less unfamiliar.
But the World Tree was indeed a fleeting legend.
Lis never expected that he would suddenly come here, before the World Tree.
Lis looked around, the vast unlimited space seemed to have no boundaries, with nothing other than the World Tree before him.
No, that's not right!
Lis noticed a pitch-black figure frozen in the void at an unknown distance behind him, wreathed in colored brilliance that was far denser than that surrounding Lis.
If Lis got closer, he could see specks of black flaking off the pitch-black figure, then promptly consumed and ground away by the surging colored brilliance.
Lis stared at the somewhat familiar figure with a start of surprise.
No... No, that's not right!
That was his Mirror Body!
Lis furrowed his brow, certain that he had previously chosen to dissipate that Mirror Body.
The return of the Mirror Body's memories to the main body was the best proof.
Lis observed the doppelgänger closely, its determined expression seemingly frozen at the moment Lis bravely used the doppelgänger to take on Demogorgon's pitch-black droplet.
The strength contained within the pitch-black droplet likely originated from the Endless Abyss, and only the Abyss Power could be more potent than the shock brought by Demogorgon's Divine Power to Lis!
Lis turned his head to look at the partially withered World Tree not far away.
In his eyes, a small portion of the tree trunk had turned a profound black, its vast canopy, thick trunk, and interwoven roots all appeared so, starkly contrasting with the vibrant green of the other side.
And within the withered half, the sensations of death, destruction, and chaos from the Endless Abyss were strikingly conspicuous, even causing Lis's eyes a stinging sensation as if burned.
The World Tree's state, life, and death seemed clearly demarcated, each occupying their territory and defying each other.
So, was Demogorgon's ploy to let the power of the Endless Abyss contaminate the entire World Tree?
Lis watched the World Tree before him quietly, his earlier conjectures being confirmed little by little.
So, Demogorgon destroying the Elf Royal Court, extracting the Day Elf Bloodline, collecting Elf Slaves, and so on were all to open the spatial passageway to the space where the World Tree resided, even sacrificing a Demon God who had ascended the Divine Throne!
One must admit, isn't he worthy of the fear many gods harbor toward the Demon Prince?
Another Abyss Demon God wouldn't possibly be able to touch the World Tree, let alone allow the Endless Abyss Power to contaminate it.
Lis was certain that contaminating the World Tree wasn't Demogorgon's goal and might merely be a step in His schemes.
That Demon Prince surely couldn't just be acting out of boredom, expending such a great cost just for the World Tree!
Although Lis didn't know Demogorgon's subsequent plans, his gut was hinting at something.
The fall of Correlon, the Elf Main God in the future, the World Scar appearing in the Gaia Main World, and the rampant invasion of the Endless Abyss, might all be related to the contamination of the World Tree!
Although these were just Lis's speculations, they might very well be Demogorgon's follow-up plan.
The Demon Prince's plans always connected one ring to another, and though Lis was certain his existence had indeed been an unexpected twist for Demogorgon, proven by the Mirror Body controlled by Abyss Power behind him,
Because of this reason, the World Tree's status should be somewhat better than in his former life, but it might have not affected the execution of Demogorgon's subsequent plans.
Is this the might and terror of the Demon Prince Demogorgon?
Lis sighed inwardly, having once considered whether he should risk warning the Elf Kingdom and the Elf Gods about the impending crisis of the Elf Royal Court, but in the end, the cautious part of him decided against it.
It turned out that even if Lis had informed the Elf Gods then, the destruction of the Elf Royal Court couldn't have been averted.
He was still too weak!
Even though his rebirth and the fluttering of his wings had changed much, for Demogorgon, those changes weren't enough.
