Misunderstanding
Despite the public buzz, Lian Jing spent all morning dealing with paperwork and knew nothing about the media coverage.
The crowd still had not dispersed when they walked out of the doors of Prosperity Mall. The police had already arrived and were piecing together body parts and protecting the scene.
From afar, Lian Jing saw a woman in a white coat squatting alone inside the cordon.
That woman was quite bold.
With one hand, she used a pair of tweezers to pick up pieces of the body, while using the other hand to stuff an entire arm into the body bag.
Lian Jing stood there and watched for a while. Zhong Xin cowered behind him fearfully.
He really did not know what was so interesting about this bloody scene. His president was actually still standing there!
“President Lian,” Zhong Xin said weakly, “are we going back to the office?”
Lian Jing recovered his wits. He remembered that the woman had said last night that she had a child. His expression darkened and he got into the car without a word.
Zhong Xin heaved a sigh of relief and instructed the chauffeur to leave quickly. Then, he took out his phone to share the breaking news of the day with Lian Jing.
His eyes widened when he saw the bright words on the headlines. He was stunned and unable to move. He even stammered when he spoke.
“President… President Lian, you… you… last night….”
“If you have something to say, say it.” He leaned impatiently against the backseat, frowning in thought.
Zhong Xin almost stuck out his tongue. Even if he the guts of a hundred men, he would not dare to say that President Lian had a late-night date with a female celebrity. That would be courting death.
Zhong Xin thought for a moment and silently handed the cell phone to the back. He gritted his teeth and said, “President Lian, take a look for yourself.”
Lian Jing was bewildered by Zhong Xin’s martyred look. He took the phone and casually scanned the screen. Then his face darkened.
What have these entertainment reporters been reporting!
The President of Lian Corporation invited a popular female celebrity to his house for a private meeting late at night. The secret was exposed! Yun Shan’s relationship exposed, her boyfriend is the President of Lian Corporation!
Below that were pictures and videos that had been secretly taken of the two of them. Yun Shan had her arm wrapped around his shoulders and the two of them were going home.
How outrageous!
Lian Jing almost dropped the phone. Zhong Xin meekly took back the phone to save his property.
He knew all about President Lian and Yun Shan. Although President Lian had been secretly helping Yun Shan, he could tell from President Lian’s attitude that the latter did not like this woman at all.
Presumably, this was the results of Yun Shan’s machinations.
When he recalled President Lian’s expression, Zhong Xin really broke out in cold sweat on her behalf. If she dared to offend President Lian, it meant that she would never be able to continue working in the entertainment industry.
He glanced timidly at Lian Jing’s face and probed, “What should we do, President Lian?”
Lian Jing rubbed his eyebrows in frustration. “Remove the female lead from her drama. Tell Director Mo that it was my idea.”
He did not just ban her outright?
Zhong Xin was curious about their true relationship. She had made President Lian so angry, yet he did not exterminate her. This woman must be have some talent.
However, President Lian was clearly more concerned about that female forensic pathologist! He knew that President Lian had specially postponed a meeting yesterday to have a meal with that woman.
When he thought of that, Zhong Xin probed, “President Lian, there’s no need to be angry with a woman like Yun Shan. Fortunately, there’s still Miss Shen. Miss Shen is definitely not like that.”
It would have been fine if he had not mentioned her. The moment he mentioned Shen Yin, Lian Jing’s anger, that had just subsided, surged again.
“Shut up.” Lian Jing did not even look at him. He sat alone in the backseat and sulked.
In fact, after the initial shock and the anger of being lied to, he should not allow such an unworthy person to continue making him angry. But for some reason, the thought of her being married and blissfully having a child with someone made him so angry that he wanted to find her ex-husband and hack him to death.
The cell phone in his pocket vibrated. Lian Jing calmed down. He thought that something had happened at the office, so he put on a business-like expression.
To his surprise, the message that popped up made his heart skip a beat.
“Shen Yin’s son, Shen Nian, requests to add you as a friend. Note: Uncle, are you the person who had dinner with my mother last night? Do you like my mother? I look forward to you being my stepfather!”
Lian Jing read this short paragraph several times before approving Shen Nian’s friend request in disbelief.
He thought for a moment, then sent a terse message. “Who told you I liked your mother?”
