Li Mo hadn’t come over today because he was on the night shift, and it just so happened that Bai Xin had cooked a lot of food, so when they met downstairs, he helped carry it up.
Bai Xin felt a bit embarrassed; she had been troubling Li Mo a lot lately.
"Just saying thank you is enough? You should treat me to a meal sometime."
Li Mo smiled and spoke up; lately, everyone had become familiar with one another, and jokes were easily exchanged.

Li Mo really had taken good care of Xingxing, visiting every day to check on her recovery, even removing her stitches himself.

Wu Wa quickly helped Bai Zhi sit down, while Bai Fei helped serve the food.
"Li Mo, why don’t you eat with us?"
Bai Xin looked at Li Mo and served him a bowl as well.
"No need, I still have to make rounds. You go ahead."
After saying that, Li Mo left and just as he reached the doorway, he encountered a man with a dark expression. Li Mo, ever considerate, offered some help.
"Are you here to visit a patient? I suggest you ask at the nurse’s station about which ward they’re in."
The man only glared gloomily at him.
Li Mo was a bit puzzled; this man seemed rather difficult to deal with.
But he thought the man was just visiting relatives.
"I’m a doctor here. If you’re unsure which ward the patient is in, you can ask at the nurse’s station."
Outside the room, Bai Xin noticed the noise and stepped out, surprised at seeing the man.
"Mu Yi, what are you doing here?"
Her tone wasn’t overly surprised; it was rather flat.
Mu Yi was her husband and Bai Zhi’s uncle, running a general store at home and wholesaling goods to village shops. He owned several storefronts in the county and a building, which put his family in a good financial position.
The reason he knew Bai Xin was because he was Bai Da’s friend and also her childhood playmate. He was very familiar with Bai Xin.
They were childhood sweethearts, and he had always treated Bai Xin well, indulging her minor whims.
"Xinxin, who is he? Why were you laughing and talking with him? You said you were going back to your mother’s house, and when I went to pick you up, I found out you had come here..."
Mu Yi’s tone was both accusing and distressed, and Bai Xin’s expression darkened immediately.
"This is Li Mo, Xingxing’s primary doctor and also my high school classmate. So now, do I have to report to you whom I befriend?"
Bai Xin’s expression turned sour, and Li Mo immediately felt awkward.
"Let me explain, I’m a doctor at this hospital and also Bai Zhi’s primary doctor. Bai Xin and I are classmates. So maybe you misunderstood something?"

Bai Xin looked apologetically at Li Mo. She hadn’t expected Mu Yi to show up and openly challenge Li Mo . What did he mean by this?
"It’s okay; I’ll go first. You two talk."
Li Mo, feeling awkward, left.
Bai Xin didn’t even want to look at Mu Yi and turned to enter the ward directly.
Why would she go back to her parents’ house? Didn’t Mu Yi know?
