When Poldi found Zixin, he was sitting by the river, laughing like a madman.
"Hahaha! Ahahaha! So I can also turn it off and on whenever I want! Now let me try focusing on one sound and ignoring the rest!"said Zixin to himself. Baby Poldi was confused about what Zixin was actually doing but chose not to disturb him. Zixin kept practicing alone until morning came and warmth approached.
Zixin opened his eyes again and immediately closed them again. The world was now full of colours but the mosaic view made him unable to appreciate the beauty of all these colours.
’I must learn to control these abilities. I can’t believe I even obtained Compound eyes but my vision is only 180 degrees, unlike most insects. I wonder if I can see in slow motion too or not." he said to himself. ɪꜰ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡᴀɴᴛ ᴛᴏ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴍᴏʀᴇ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs, ᴘʟᴇᴀsᴇ ᴠɪsɪᴛ 𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙡✶𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙚✶𝙣𝙚𝙩
For the next month or so, Zixin spent most of his time practicing how to control his abilities and it wasn’t as difficult as he thought it would be. When he changed into his larvae form, he could control these abilities as easily as breathing but in human form, it was slightly difficult but practice makes perfect. He hadn’t mastered them but could use them much better than before.
Currently, Zixin was sitting cross legged and looking at the different types of nymphs he’d summoned. He just discovered that he could process information much faster now and could collect multiple information at the same time. His Compound Eyes allowed him to view the information of the dozens of nymphs at the same time.
’It’s not here,’ he thought.
"Alright, you can all go back now. Baby Poldi, we’re leaving." said Zixin as he stood up and went upstream. Poldi then jumped on his shoulder as Zixin was walking away. Zixin travelled for days along this path and every once in a while, he would summon the dragonfly nymph to try his luck but alas, he was followed by bad luck.
For a whole month, Zixin would repeat the same thing over and over only to turn up empty handed. Today was the same, he’d checked the nymphs but the one he wanted wasn’t here but during this period, he’d collected quite a variety of rare plants and herbs and planted them in his Heart Space.
For some reason, Zixin didn’t just have extensive knowledge about insects, he also had extensive knowledge about plants and herbs. With a single glance, all the information about the plant he was looking at would appear in his mind.
"Damn it! Just where could it be?!" he shouted in annoyance but that’s when Poldi raised her to communicate with him.
"Upstream? Are you sure?"
After Baby Poldi answered him, he was visibly happy as he started running. The river which was initially like a stream was now raging and creating a loud noise. After running for about ten minutes, Zixin finally reached his location. The river flow was heavy and forceful, above the river, a cloud of dragonflies were flying around at incredible speed, making it hard to keep track of them.
At the centre of the river, there was a protruding boulder upon which an absolute beauty was perched there. The dragonfly sitting on this boulder was different from the rest. It was blue in colour with black stripes on its thin and elongated abdomen, its wings transparent with a hint of blue. It was around thirty centimetres long and looked completely different from the rest.
"I found it! I finally found it! Hahaha, Poldi, I found it! The Emperor Dragonfly!"
When he checked its information, he was both impressed and confused. It’s name was the Blue Dragonfly/Emperor Dragonfly and was born through the fertilisation of four male dragonflies. A Pseudo Rank 1 creature with three evolution paths to choose from. The Sky Emperor Dragonfly path, the Speed Kills Emperor Dragonfly and the Warmonger Emperor Dragonfly.
What confused Zixin was its strength labelled as Pseudo Rank 1, a rank he’d never come across before. Nonetheless, he was still happy that he finally found it.
"COME HERE!" he called out to the Emperor Dragonfly. The other dragonflies were blue coloured but much smaller and inferior to this one. The distance between him and the dragonfly was around forty meters but this distance was covered in just a few seconds, that was how fast this bad boy was.
’So fast!’ Even Zixin was shocked by its speed which was greater than that of Baby Poldi. He stretched out his hand which the dragonfly landed on. Its big Compound eyes gazing directly at Zixin.
"From today onwards, you shall be my third contracted Gu, together, we will reach new realms of power and shock the world." said Zixin before putting it in his Heart Space. As for its evolution path, he hadn’t yet thought about it.
The Sky Emperor Dragonfly path needed the dragonfly to devour ten Sky King cores but he didn’t even know what a Sky King was. The Speed Kills Emperor Dragonfly path needed it to devour three cores of the top ten fastest land, sky or sea creatures while the Warmonger Emperor Dragonfly needs it to devour a Colony Queen and slaughter the entire colony.
Seeing the requirements for the dragonfly’s evolution, he felt a headache coming along.
’I’m sure I can find information about this stuff in a human settlement. Guess I can no longer avoid going there. The good thing is that I’m not far from one. The bees told me that there’s one up ahead, I just have to keep going upstream until I reach it." said Zixin to himself.
"Baby Poldi, I don’t know how it’s like in the human settlements so you better have your fill while we’re out here. I’m currently too weak to do anything so we have to be cautious while there. That means no more killing so be on your best behaviour, got it?!"
Baby Poldi raised her legs to assure Zixin that she understood their current situation and would listen to his every command.
