I hacked through the chaotic world with my blade Chapter 231

Gu Hang laughed and said, "Wang Kai, what’s going on with you? You can’t even hold a sword?"

"No, it’s not that. This sword is really heavy. When I was holding the hilt, it felt like there was a mountain pressing down on me. If Lin hadn’t grabbed it quickly, I think my hand might have been ruined."

Wang Kai was still shaken. When he held the hilt and Lin let go, he immediately felt a terrifying weight bearing down on him. It was a strange sensation, as if the weight had suddenly increased a great deal.

"Heavy?" Lin Fan questioned Wang Kai’s words with a puzzled look, casually swinging Frost Mourning without feeling any weight, just as usual.

"Lin, it’s really heavy. What’s going on here?" Wang Kai asked.

Gu Hang, somewhat incredulous, said, "I’ll give it a try."

Wang Kai suggested, "Lin, why don’t you put the sword on the ground for him to grab? I’m afraid he’ll end up like me."

"Alright." Lin Fan placed Frost Mourning on the ground.

Gu Hang eyed Wang Kai, feeling slightly perplexed by Wang Kai’s reaction just now. Even if it was a Simulated Divine Artifact, it couldn’t be that exaggerated.

"Watch carefully," Gu Hang declared.

Wang Kai crossed his arms, "Go ahead, Gu Hang, give it a try. You’re a soldier, stronger than me. If you can’t pick it up, that means you’re in the same boat as I am."

Gu Hang rolled his eyes, casually stretched out his hand, and grabbed the hilt. This weight should be easy to... Huh?

The moment he gripped the hilt and tried to lift it, he found he couldn’t even raise it, which was terrifying.

"Come on, Gu Hang, put some muscle into it, use both hands!" Wang Kai struggled to hold back his laughter, eager to see how Gu Hang would handle it.

Coughing, Gu Hang stood before the hilt, took a deep breath, grabbed it with both hands, bent at the waist, stuck out his butt, and with a grunt of effort tried to lift Frost Mourning. His forehead’s veins bulged, and after a moment of gritting his teeth and turning red-faced from exertion, despite throwing everything into it, the sword remained immobile, lying in its original spot.

Lin Fan said, "Are you guys putting on a show? It really isn’t that heavy. I can swing it easily and it becomes invisible."

He didn’t quite understand.

Still watching Gu Hang exert himself.

His feet slipped and he sat down on the ground with a thud, sweating profusely and panting heavily.

"It’s heavy, really heavy," Gu Hang exclaimed, eyes wide as if he had seen a ghost, then looked up, "Lin, are you sure this is the same sword Sister Li gave you? You haven’t switched it out, right?"

Lin Fan replied, "I haven’t switched it; it’s the same one as before."

he picked up Frost Mourning, swinging it with ease and feeling very relaxed.

Wang Kai patted Gu Hang’s shoulder, "See, I wasn’t lying to you. It’s incredibly heavy. I feel like if it were to press down on me, it would absolutely crush me."

Gu Hang couldn’t believe that the sword could change so mysteriously on its own. "Lin, that crystal you mentioned earlier, have you used the sword to chop it?"

He suspected the crystal was the cause.

"I have, just now when I was chopping a Spiritual Zombie’s crystal," Lin Fan replied truthfully.

Gu Hang asked, "And before?"

He now believed that evolving zombies all had crystals.

Lin Fan replied, "I haven’t really chopped them intentionally before, but when I was cutting zombies, it would cleave them into two halves, so I might have shattered a lot without even knowing."

Gu Hang concluded, "The mystery is solved. The zombies’ crystals are indeed the source of energy. The once ordinary Frost Mourning must have absorbed the energy from the crystals while chopping them, thus becoming extraordinary. But I still have many questions... Wait, Lin, hold on, I’m going to grab something."

Soon, when Gu Hang returned, he was holding a weight scale.

"Lin Fan, put it on here and see," Gu Hang said.

When Sorrow of Frost was placed on the weight scale, it didn’t get crushed as he had imagined; instead, it behaved normally, even showing the correct weight.

Gu Hang looked at the weight, grabbed the scale with both hands, trying to lift it, but it was still immovable. And even more terrifying was that the displayed weight hadn’t changed at all—it was still the normal weight.

"Lin Fan, has it always been ?" Gu Hang asked.

Lin Fan shook his head: "No, someone has picked it up before."

He thought of that group of foreign adversaries. Sorrow of Frost had been confiscated by them, and they had picked it up with ease, not struggling like they were now.

Gu Hang scratched his head, bewildered.

His understanding had been severely shaken.

Can it also recognize its master?

Evolution might be possible, but recognizing a master feels a bit too fantastical.

The steel beast moved along the road.

An approaching modified van was a familiar sight to Han Shuang and her companions.

The two vehicles stopped.

Zhou Yang rolled down the window and looked at the people in the steel beast. Seeing their clean faces and vigorous spirits, he couldn’t help but show a look of surprise.

"Folks, you’re looking quite spirited; you must be living well these days," Zhou Yang said with a smile.

Han Shuang replied, "Not bad. Hey, weren’t there four of you? How come there are only three now?"

Zhou Yang cursed, "Damn, we’ve been had! After we split up from you, we passed a building with banners and thought to check for possible trades. Who would’ve thought those people were maniacs, man-eaters from the apocalypse! My brother wasn’t careful and got stabbed to death by one of the women. We could only run... Damn..."

When Han Shuang heard the word ’banner,’ she remembered the building they had also seen, "Are you talking about that building in Crown City?"

"Exactly, that’s the one. Have you been there?" Zhou Yang asked.

Han Shuang said, "We’ve seen it, but didn’t dare to approach."

"Then you’re lucky. If you had really gone, you might not have left alive. Oh yeah, I have some intel for you. Yesterday, we saw survivors with firearms arriving at Huang City. There were many of them, traveling in military transport vehicles that had been specially modified. If you encounter them, you’d better be careful, because they’re not soldiers."

Han Shuang looked grave, "Thanks for the tip."

This was important information.

Survivors with firearms could indeed be dangerous, and not necessarily the friendly kind. She needed to go back and inform everyone; they had to be more vigilant.

Zhou Yang said, "Take care, and pay attention. These folks are really lucky. If we had firearms, it wouldn’t be so hard. Alas, it’s all the hardship of the apocalypse. Farewell, take care."

Han Shuang watched their departing vehicle.

She didn’t tell them about the Sunshine District because she wasn’t sure what Zhou Yang and his group were really like, so she didn’t dare to disclose it casually, in case it brought trouble to the Sunshine District.
