The Powerful Zombie roared as if saying, "See what happens when you lure me? If it weren’t for my huge body and slow speed, would you still be alive until now?"
This car alarm, incessantly beeping, was annoying. It had chased it all the way from afar, just wanting to give this car a taste of its power.
The Powerful Zombie, with its gray eyes, fixed a deadly stare at Lin Fan and charged towards him, bellowing with rage. Its robust body resembled a small mountain, exuding a terrifying presence. Any survivor who faced it in combat would be sent flying.
Lin Fan casually swung his sword at the ordinary zombies around him, feeling the ground shake and a deep roar enter his ears. Knowing that the slightly larger "rat" was charging at him, he casually swung his sword, decapitating the Powerful Zombie’s head with a single stroke.
He did not take his opponent seriously.
Only one ordinary zombie remained growling, right when Lin Fan was about to act.
Gu Hang, who climbed over the iron railing while clutching it, shouted, "Xiao Fan, leave it to me!"
Wearing an exoskeleton suit and wielding a straight sword, he had been itching to encounter a zombie. However, Lin Fan had cleared the vicinity so clean that going outside to find zombies risked encountering a horde. Despite his remarkable abilities, he wouldn’t stand a chance if overwhelmed by their numbers.
Lin Fan stepped back, dodging the zombie’s lunging bites.
"Hang-ge, be careful."
Gu Hang nodded, stepping onto the sticky ground and taking a deep breath at the sight of the snarling zombie before him, preparing to go all out in the fight.
This was his first time confronting a zombie head-on.
As the zombie lunged at him, he abruptly dodged and, with a swing of his sword, severed its arm. The zombie, unfeeling of its lost limb, twisted its body and lunged again in reverse.
This kind of power and reaction was something that not even humans could easily achieve.
Calm and collected, Gu Hang swung his sword again and, with a squelch, chopped off the zombie’s head.
The zombie collapsed to the ground with a crash.
"Hang-ge, that’s impressive," praised Lin Fan, believing in the importance of regular commendation for others.
Praise can indeed be a great motivator.
Gu Hang looked at the fallen zombie and smiled, nodding at Lin Fan. He knew he was competent, but definitely not as exceptional as Xiao Fan.
"Did they attract the zombies over here?"
Gu Hang approached the severed head of the Powerful Zombie, sliced it open, and extracted the crystal—now an important commodity. He could imagine that in the coming apocalypse, crystals would be paramount.
Lin Fan said, "Yes, that’s right."
It had certainly been their doing. Although they had always been diligent in clearing out zombies, there shouldn’t have been so many if not for their actions. To this, he could only say that some things shouldn’t be done; they might seem safe, but in reality, they could be quite dangerous.
Arriving at the deflated car.
Blood trickled through the cracks, pooling on the ground.
Gu Hang said, "Three survivors with plenty of supplies could’ve just driven away. Instead, they collided with the iron railing, creating this mess. They really brought trouble upon themselves."
Lin Fan looked at the compressed, deformed bodies and shook his head in pity.
Perhaps this was a classic case of courting disaster.
Gu Hang saw a card in the pocket of the shirt on the corpse in the passenger seat and found it odd. Upon extracting and reading it, he recited the words written there.
"Luxury Cruise Lucky."
Lin Fan asked, "What is it?"
Gu Hang replied, "I found a name card on them, along with other items—a shelter pass card. I think they might have been survivors from the Luxury Cruise Lucky."
Lin Fan said, "I know about the Luxury Cruise Lucky, I have even seen it with my own eyes. It’s huge, luxurious, said to carry six thousand people. The cost is incredibly high—it would cost more than my annual salary just to afford the trip."
"Xiao Fan, do you think there could be many survivors on that cruise liner?" Gu Hang felt it might be the case, especially since these three deceased survivors had a pass card, suggesting that the cruise wasn’t theirs and they could be among its survivors.
Under normal circumstances.
A cruise liner would have a substantial reserve of food, considering the long voyages they undertake. Without enough supplies, it would be impossible to cater to so many passengers.
"I hope the more, the better." Lin Fan genuinely hoped that everyone could survive. The apocalypse was terrifying and a real disaster for many survivors, who had to face both zombies and the unpredictable hearts of other survivors.
If there truly was a safe place where people could live in peace, that would be truly wonderful.
Gu Hang looked at Lin Fan,
Understanding his sentiments.
However, in Gu Hang’s view, if there were indeed a lot of survivors on the Luxury Cruise Lucky, there would certainly be a strict class system. This tradition has persisted throughout history.
Even with just ten people, a hierarchy would emerge, with the person at the top of the pyramid enjoying the fruits of the labor of the nine below.
"Hang-ge, you head back first. I’m going to clean up this trash." Lin Fan couldn’t stand the sight of the messy ground and felt compelled to clean up the neighborhood.
Lin Fan waved his hand, "No need, I’ll handle it. You go back."
He didn’t want Gu Hang to join in. If they encountered zombies, he would have to look after Gu Hang, which could distract him from the task at hand. Since cleaning wasn’t a cumbersome task, there was no need for additional help.
