"You look well-rested recently," Lin Fan smiled as he greeted Guan Hao, clearly noticing the changes and pursuits in the other man.
"Thanks to your kindness, I’ve been resting well. I never imagined I’d see days like these," Guan Hao was quite satisfied with his current life, and looked enviously at the survivors stepping out of the sedan. "They’re lucky to have met you. Now they can stay in the Sunshine District and be safe from the zombies."
Lin Fan said, "You’ll soon be able to enter the Sunshine District too."
Reflecting on Guan Hao’s recent behavior, observing him seemed preoccupied, as if dealing with something personal. Lin Fan understood this, sensing that Guan Hao was venting some inner negativity.
Hearing Lin Fan’s words, Guan Hao’s eyes widened and his mood soared, thereafter he seemed deep in thought.
"Brother, I’ve come to understand your philosophy. I think it’s good for me to stay outside. There are many survivors with nowhere to go passing by. When I see them, I can tell them about this place, thus contributing to harmony."
In the stillness of the night, Guan Hao gazed at the night sky in reflection.
He hadn’t thought of it before, but suddenly, as if his Spiritual Energy pathways were opened, a rush of clarity streamed into his mind.
The future in the Sunshine District would definitely be comfortable and leisurely.
But he felt that being on the outskirts of the Sunshine District wasn’t too bad either, serving as a guide. Not to direct them where to go, but to tell those who arrived here, lost and thinking they needed to change their self-perception to survive in this apocalyptic world.
Lin Fan watched Guan Hao with a smile, lightly patting his shoulder, then turned to look at the survivors who had followed him.
The arriving survivors observed their surroundings.
Their first sight was the tall iron fences.
Since starting their journey, they had not encountered any living zombies, but had seen many zombie corpses. The sight had jolted their hearts, making them realize that the zombies hadn’t disappeared, but had been hunted down by him.
Lin Fan observed them, and they looked back at him with hopeful expressions; in their hearts, Lin Fan was the only one who could keep them alive.
Standing out, Guan Hao said, "Hello everyone, my name is Guan Hao, I’m one of the first residents outside the Sunshine District. Everybody has been tortured by the apocalypse, hiding from zombies and guarding against the dark side of human nature.
"But now that you’re here, I can assure you you’re safe. See the shops around? You can choose one to stay in. There won’t be any problem. In the time I’ve lived here, I can guarantee I haven’t seen a single zombie."
"Here, you can live as you did before."
He understood that the group Lin Fan brought back, like him, were somewhat losing themselves in this apocalyptic world. Moving into the Sunshine District right away wouldn’t work. They needed time to recover, to calm their minds after the madness, and slowly return to their former habits.
He looked at Lin Fan as if asking for confirmation.
"Brother, do you think there’s some truth in what I’m saying?"
Lin Fan said, "He’s right, I’ve cleared a large area nearby; you can safely stay here. I hope you can gradually find yourself."
"I sincerely hope you can rediscover the true selves you were in peaceful times. Here you won’t face zombies or be bullied by others. I hope you will always remain hopeful about the future."
He knew these people were pursuing survival and now, he was giving them hope to live on.
At the same time, he was pointing out the path to their future.
The people who followed Lin Fan back looked at each other. Some wanted to ask if they could enter the Sunshine District, but eventually, they buried their thoughts deep inside.
Thinking of the words Lin Fan had just spoken.
A future full of hope.
Isn’t this what everyone is seeking?
Guan Hao knew what the group was thinking. "Don’t overthink it, don’t assume that our brother bringing you here means abandoning you. Putting our own concerns aside, remember the long stretch we traveled without seeing any zombies, right?"
He looked at their expressions, knowing they were still somewhat bewildered by their new surroundings.
This bewilderment was just like his when he first arrived.
But he believed, as long as people are alive and not beasts, harboring hope in their hearts, they will inevitably move beyond their confusion and welcome a bright future."
"Is it all true what you said?" a survivor asked Guan Hao.
Guan Hao smiled and said, "Of course, I never lie. Here, we return to our true selves. I occupy the small supermarket, so if you need anything, just come to me. Food is available whenever needed, and if any man wants to watch some ’movies,’ I have them too."
The crowd was astounded.
In such a serious moment,
you suddenly mention... watching ’movies.’
That... seems not too bad, actually.
In the research facility,
An eagle knocked down a warrior to the side, quickly climbing up. "Be careful, this guy is fierce; don’t just stand there shooting."
