The Corpse Ball shattered instantly, and countless chunks of flesh and viscous blood spilled onto the ground like a bursting river, spreading rapidly and staining the surrounding buildings red.
Only one zombie survived, its back twisting with numerous threads of blood vessels.
Lin Fan was very satisfied with the situation before him; the number he had just hunted was large, frighteningly so.
He approached the leader.
"Hello, thank you for your efforts just now," Lin Fan said with a smile.
The leader before him was identical to the Screaming Zombie, a real contributor to the cleanup of zombies. Without its hard work, such a rapid cleanup would have been difficult.
The leader looked up, somewhat confused, as if it hadn’t figured out what had just happened.
It had been covered by a mass of zombies, controlling them and forming a terrifying Corpse Ball, and before it could even enjoy the thrill, it was suddenly reduced back to its original form.
Unable to bear it any longer, the leader lunged viciously at Lin Fan, intending to tear the despicable human before it into pieces.
If it had been before,
Lin Fan would have decapitated the leader with a single sword strike.
But he didn’t this time.
Zombies that could contribute often needed to be treated well.
He grabbed the leader by the neck, held it in his hand, and allowed the blood-red threads from the leader’s back to wrap around his arm without feeling even a slight sensation.
He looked up at Officer Huang and waved, "Officer Huang, come down."
Officer Huang stood up and jumped down. Clearly evolved to such an extent, the height was no longer a big issue for him.
The blood on the ground was a bit sticky and slick.
Officer Huang, trying to land stylishly, fell straight down, ending up in an awkward position.
Lin Fan covered his eyes, rushing over with the leader in tow, "Officer Huang, are you alright?"
Officer Huang slowly got up, raised his head, and gave Lin Fan a deep look. Without saying a word, without even a grunt, he turned his head and walked away.
It seemed that for Officer Huang, he knew his situation was a bit embarrassing, so leaving early was the right choice.
"Officer Huang, I won’t hand this zombie over to you; I still have a use for it. Goodbye..."
Lin Fan yelled towards that retreating figure.
Until Officer Huang disappeared from sight.
Lin Fan examined the leader, and without a second thought, he picked up his camera and started taking pictures of the leader’s original body.
"Stand still, don’t move. Your true form is important. You wouldn’t want me to photograph you looking so ugly, would you?"
Regardless of whether the leader could understand,
It still had to be said.
Perhaps friendly communication could bring the two sides closer; one could never tell.
Once everything was settled,
He sped up his departure from the area to arrive at a new location, which was also teeming with ordinary zombies.
He placed the leader among the group of regular zombies.
He quickly reached the top of the high building, waiting silently, hoping the leader would continue to work hard and form a terrifying Corpse Ball once again.
"Huh, it didn’t happen?"
Lin Fan noticed that the leader seemed a bit listless, especially from the way the blood-colored threads from its back were twisting.
Lin Fan pondered, the more he thought about it, the more he felt it was likely. Forming a Corpse Ball would definitely require a tremendous state of spirit.
He felt he should do something.
He couldn’t just stand by and do nothing.
He entered the group of zombies and, in front of them all, grabbed the leader by the neck and quickly headed off into the distance.
Lin Fan sliced off the head of a tyrant zombie, retrieved the Black Crystal from within, and held it in front of the leader.
"Here, eat the crystal."
The crystal contained the energies of a zombie, and Officer Huang could absorb the energy from the crystal to evolve himself, though flesh from an Awakener benefited Officer Huang’s evolution the most.
The leader closed its mouth, refusing to swallow the Black Crystal before it.
Lin Fan pried open the leader’s mouth and stuffed the crystal inside; he wanted to know if the crystal was of any use to the leader.
Following the ingestion of the crystal,
He found the leader’s spirit substantially uplifted.
"If it’s useful, that’s good."
Soon, Lin Fan was on the move again, holding on to the leader, searching for Evolutionary Zombies; Black Crystals could be freely given to the leader to consume, and he would not waste the precious ones.
The leader finally regained its spirit; however, to the leader itself, it felt quite ashamed. Possessing a Red Crystal, it might not claim to be the pinnacle among zombie types, but it was not something any common zombie could compare with.
To be manipulated at will by a human,
That was unbearable for anyone.
Lin Fan was on the roof of a building, looking down at the leader on the street. The re-energized leader probably was about to start forming the Corpse Ball again.
What he didn’t expect was...
The leader also raised its head, watching Lin Fan as the two of them looked at each other.
If they could communicate,
Perhaps their exchange would go something :
Lin Fan: Keep forming into a Corpse Ball.
Leader: No... I don’t want to.
Lin Fan frowned in contemplation, "The leader knows I’m waiting for it to form into a Corpse Ball again, so it doesn’t want to do that. It also understands that under my watch, even if it forms into a Corpse Ball, it’ll still be eradicated, right?"
With that realization, he couldn’t help but be amazed that the higher the level of zombie evolution, the more likely they truly had their own thoughts.
Since that was the case,
In an instant, Lin Fan vanished without a trace, completely disappearing from the rooftop of the building.
