"How are they doing?"
As Lin Fan stepped out, he bumped into Zhou Yang, concerned about the situation of the survivors in the prison. Reform isn’t something that can be settled in a day or two.
"Brother Lin, everything is proceeding in an orderly manner, but their wild nature is deeply rooted, and it’s very difficult to eradicate it. The day before yesterday, a conflict broke out among the prisoners. Gao Bo went in to intervene, but unexpectedly fell into their trap and was ganged up on."
Zhou Yang recounted the events of that day, his expression turning more resentful as he spoke. Brother Lin gave them a chance to reform and start a new life, but who would have thought they would be so unappreciative. It’s heartbreaking, truly heartbreaking.
Lin Fan frowned. He didn’t expect these criminal survivors to be so vicious. Indeed, once the ferocity in the apocalypse is unleashed, it’s very hard to change. Giving them a chance to reform in prison, he hadn’t expected they still planned to do as they please.
"No worries, Gao Bo is more capable than I am, and he didn’t suffer any harm from their ambush, while the person who ambushed him lost a leg."
Zhou Yang calmly described the outcome.
Lin Fan nodded upon hearing this.
"Hmm, unexpected events are quite normal. They still need gradual reform. Their mindset indeed cannot be changed overnight."
A broken leg is a broken leg. When encountering any ferocious thug, the first priority is to ensure your own safety.
"Brother Lin, I believe under my management, their minds will definitely change."
Zhou Yang felt that as the prison warden, he had to demonstrate true ability. If he couldn’t even reform this group, how could he take on greater responsibilities in the future?
Those guys had their legs broken, but that doesn’t mean they can’t do anything. They brought it on themselves, so Zhou Yang still assigned them work.
A broken leg doesn’t mean broken hands.
No legs needed to work, just hands.
Lin Fan encouraged Zhou Yang with a smile, then headed off in different directions. He had to clear the zombies outside of Huang City now, a task even more monotonous than clearing the zombies in Huang City.
But even so, no matter how monotonous, some things must continue to be done.
Arriving at the bridge, soldiers stood guard on the fortified structure, surveying as seriously as they did in the military camp, their focused eyes firmly fixed on the distance.
Normally, if ordinary zombies strayed onto the bridge, they’d have no trouble dealing with them.
Lin Fan greeted them as he passed by.
"Mr. Lin, everything is normal with us."
The soldiers on guard replied with a smile. In the apocalypse, they were brimming with enthusiasm, like being on a battlefield, feeling a heavy burden on their shoulders. Their task was to ensure not a single zombie crossed this defense line.
"That’s good. I’ve almost cleared the zombies around here. Occasionally, there will be wandering zombies passing by. If you spot evolutionary zombies, call me immediately."
Lin Fan advised, fearing carelessness. Among the evolutionary zombies, those with strength and speed, these white crystal zombies seem easy to deal with, but in reality, they are still formidable adversaries for many survivors.
Just like those survivors he brought back from the exchange, even if some are awakeners, the highest crystal they could obtain was just a black crystal.
The soldiers here always worked in two shifts, one during the day and another at night, constantly monitoring the situation.
Lin Fan noticed that on both sides of the bridge, lights were installed above. At night, when the lights were turned on, they illuminated the entire bridge clearly, making it nearly impossible for anything to sneak across unnoticed.
He arrived at the place where he had previously stored the Screaming Zombie, planning to use it to continue attracting zombies so he could hunt them down. But upon reaching where the Screaming Zombie was supposed to be, he found no trace of it.
Only a pool of blood was spilled on the ground.
The blood had already coagulated.
Evidently, it had been some time.
He scanned the area, pondering who might have killed his Screaming Zombie. It probably wasn’t humans, as they wouldn’t have taken the body. Perhaps some type of zombie existed that devoured the controlled Screaming Zombie.
As if he had a realization, he moved forward.
"Hey, any zombies around?"
He shouted at the top of his lungs, walking down the dangerous road alone in the wild, attracting the attention of zombies.
It’s something only someone like Lin Fan would think to do.
Responses gradually came.
There were quite a few wandering zombies outside.
A fair number of zombies appeared ahead, hideous in appearance, their mouths bloody, and thick liquid streaming down their chins.
He had long grown accustomed to the appearance of this group of zombies.
Only ordinary people who saw these zombies would be fearful.
Just as he was preparing to take action.
Silent spirit bullets burst forth, instantly exploding the heads of the gathered zombies. A single spirit bullet could penetrate N countless zombie heads.
He didn’t even need to look to know who was shooting.
