Jiang Chen grinned, though his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes.
"Alright, then you can start by performing a talent for me."
"MGM is such a high-end place; they must have trained you pretty professionally, right? With music, chess, calligraphy, painting, and all sorts of musical instruments, they should have taught you at least something. Don’t tell me you can’t do anything besides wearing a broken mask."
In a calm manner, Jiang Chen said, "You just mentioned making it worth my while, didn’t you? Come on, show me."
Vera cracked a slight smile, extending her artistic hands that clearly hadn’t suffered much.
"Sure, but you have to pay first."
Jiang Chen laughed, "Isn’t it added to the room charge?"
"I’m talking about a tip."
"Didn’t you say you don’t take tips?"
Vera scrunched her delicate nose, "Who asked you to give so little. Jiang, you really are quite stingy."
"Then how much do you want?"
Vera eyed his wallet, which was still in his hand, and stated with utter confidence, "All of it."
"Alright, but first you need to let me see if it’s worth it."
As soon as he finished speaking, Jiang Chen abruptly stepped forward, tearing through his gentlemanly facade with a sudden surge of aggressive intensity that instinctively made Vera back up until she hit the wall.
Jiang Chen raised his hand to support himself against the wall and, under Vera’s trembling gaze, lowered his head to her neck and gently took a breath.
Vera felt a tingling sensation all over, her body softened, and a barely perceptible blush crept over her cheeks.
"Miss Vera, if you want to surprise someone, you’d better change your perfume."
The warmth of his breath caressed her delicate neck.
Vera’s tone trembled slightly, and she lifted her hand to push Jiang Chen away, "Jiang, wait a minute, you go take a shower first..."
Jiang Chen remained motionless, "Aren’t you working here? Why are you nervous?"
"I’m not nervous, just, you really should take a shower first."
Vera pushed against Jiang Chen with more force.
"Shall we shower together?"
"No, we don’t offer that service."
Still playing tough up to now.
Jiang Chen didn’t insist and let her push him away.
Vera’s breathing was short, her gaze wary.
By now, Jiang Chen could easily see that this girl had always been just tough on the outside.
Despite acting like a seasoned player, the moment he got serious, she would falter.
"What?" Vera attempted to remain calm.
Vera dodged the question, "You go take your shower."
Jiang Chen smiled, "I’ll go take a shower, and then you’ll just sneak away, right?"
Vera immediately denied it.
"Miss Vera, you can come and go from Beverly Hills freely and know Mr. Mario’s mansion like the back of your hand, yet you claim to be working here."
Jiang Chen spoke leisurely, "Are you insulting my intelligence or your own?"
"I... What’s wrong with me having a part-time job here!"
Jiang Chen chuckled, then walked over to the position that she must pass to get out, blocking the door.
"Fine, then stay the night with me tonight. I am indeed quite lonely by myself."
By now, he had completely seen through her pretense.
Seeing Jiang Chen was not joking at all, Vera seemed to panic for real.
"I suddenly don’t feel very well, I’ll get someone else for you."
Saying this, she hurriedly tried to leave.
But how could Jiang Chen let her get away so easily? As she tried to pass by him, he reached out and forcefully grabbed her arm.
"No, I don’t want anyone else today, I’ve chosen you."
With those words, he dragged Vera toward the bedroom.
