Early Sunday morning, Sean Carter lay in his apartment, snoring loudly in a pair of large floral shorts. He turned over and scratched his itchy butt.
Deep in sleep, he was suddenly woken by a noisy doorbell ringing incessantly. Annoyed, he turned over and covered his head with a pillow, but the doorbell just wouldn’t stop. Frustrated, he got out of bed.
With his hair a wild mess, he walked toward the door. A beautiful weekend morning was meant for sleeping in, and whoever disturbed him was truly out of line.
But when he opened the door, he saw a sweet little kid standing there, grinning and saying, "Uncle Sean, good morning."
All his anger vanished without a trace. But when his eyes turned to Sienna Quinn, he noticed she looked a bit awkward, avoiding eye contact with him. Quickly covering the little sun on her chest with her hands, he remembered he didn’t like wearing a shirt to bed. Letting out a yelp, he ran back to his room to put on a jacket.
Even Sean himself didn’t notice how he was blushing furiously.
After changing, he returned to find Sienna’s beautiful face smiling at him with Evan. "You could have called before coming over. How did you know I’d be available?"
"Why wouldn’t you be? You don’t even have a girlfriend, the worst they’d see is what I just saw." Sienna rolled her eyes, the playful bickering between them was just their usual way.
Sean shot Sienna a look before scooping Evan up in his arms and giving him a big kiss on the cheek.
He looked at Sienna a bit wistfully, "President Quinn, though you’re now my boss, it’s rest time right now. Coming over so early is quite taxing on me."
"You have to look after Chloe for the day." Sienna sheepishly scratched her head, but he was her friend after all.
Originally, she wanted to leave Chloe with Danielle, but Danielle was apparently having lunch with her parents today, so she had no choice but to trouble Sean to be a temporary babysitter.
"What are you up to?" Sean asked, glancing at Sienna’s bandaged hand and frowning.
"It’s nothing, just a little cut." Sienna said offhandedly.
In Sean’s arms, Evan pouted, "Mommy’s lying. It was that bad lady who hurt her."
Sean raised an eyebrow, bad lady?
Sienna coughed gently and handed Sean a file she worked on late last night, "This is our next business deal."
Sean originally wanted to press her more about the injury, but seeing her unwillingness, he knew she couldn’t say more.
It seemed he’d have to get more from Chloe about it.

Sean shivered slightly, realizing Sienna had set her sights on the Quinn Group.
Landon Lawson, looking at Sienna from across, squinted his eyes to study her. After they parted ways yesterday, even Evan hadn’t contacted him since, let alone Sienna.
But today, early in the morning, Sienna called wanting to meet. Could she be attempting to explain yesterday’s events?
Landon gazed into Sienna’s beautiful eyes, trying to discern her intentions.
"What did you want to talk about?"
Sienna pushed a piece of paper toward Landon, looking away indifferently. Her icy demeanor made Landon uncomfortable.
His eyes drifted to the paper on the table, curious what it was that Sienna would bring to him so early.
There were two bright red fingerprints on the paper, revealing its nature.
Landon’s brow furrowed slightly, looking displeased, "Why are you showing me this?"
Sienna chuckled lightly, tapping the desk with her fingers, the steady sound adding to her composed aura, "How could President Lawson not know what this is?"
Landon chuckled softly, clearly not planning to acknowledge it, "What is it? I really don’t know."
"Does President Lawson not want to admit it?"
"So, the whole morning, you didn’t want to explain yesterday’s events." Landon’s voice was a bit icy, expecting her to account for yesterday, but instead, she focused on this agreement they both signed.
Mentioning yesterday brought an unpleasant expression to Sienna’s face, "What’s there to say about yesterday? It happened just as you saw."
Sienna mocked him with a smile; he still clung to yesterday? Since he believed Vera Yates, why even ask her? He had never chosen to believe her once, always opting to trust Vera.
With such a consistently disappointing and hurtful man, what hope was left?
Landon’s eyes wrinkled slightly, expecting Sienna to at least tell her side, whether right or wrong, even if just to pout or complain.
Yet, she couldn’t even bother to explain, showing just how little he meant to her? Disappointment flickered in his eyes, a person who truly cared would never act .
He let out a cold laugh, his eyes filled with mockery, his handsome face a mix of cold and flushed, clear as day.
He couldn’t understand, with their relationship this strained, why he still acted so convincingly? If he wasn’t the cause, how did they end up here?
"President Lawson, don’t put on that face. If it weren’t for you, we wouldn’t be here. Since you’ve always chosen Vera Yates, stop bothering me."
Landon lifted his head to her cold little face, feeling a pang in his heart.
He took the paper in his hand, a charming, wicked smile spreading across his face, and tore it gently with two fingers.
