Miles Grant inadvertently thought of Axel Yates!
A sinister smile appeared on Miles Grant’s lips; his kidnapping attempt had failed, so he had to think of another way to torment him.
He flipped open his phone and quickly dialed a number he’d never contacted before.
Clearly, the person on the other end was confused, not knowing who was calling.
Axel Yates politely asked, "Hello, who is this?"
Miles Grant matter-of-factly said to Danielle, "Tomorrow afternoon at 1 o’clock, I’ll be waiting for you at the café downstairs at your company. I hope you won’t be late. I’ll bring news you really want to hear."
After speaking, Miles Grant hung up and turned off his phone.
Axel Yates found it strange; when he tried calling back, there was no answer, and the phone was off.
Curiosity made Axel Yates frown; recently, he’d been tirelessly investigating the person who hurt his parents. His family had been shattered, and the culprit had to be punished.
This phone call... what could it mean?

In a distant corner, he saw a familiar face. He quietly walked over, convinced this person was looking for him.
The gentleman Axel Yates sat there and asked, "Why are you looking for me? Is it because the recent plan isn’t working out and you need my help?"
Miles Grant chuckled, "I won’t let you come here for nothing today."
Axel Yates looked expectantly.
Miles Grant said, "Regarding the incident when your father passed away, don’t you understand yet who it’s related to?"
Axel Yates froze mid-action as he raised the coffee the waiter had just served him to his lips.
Axel Yates lifted his gaze, staring intently at the man before him.
He set his coffee down, his expression briefly intense before returning to normal, "Miles Grant, why suddenly bring this up? Don’t you think it’s absurdly elusive?"
Axel Yates had investigated long, gathering just fragments of information. Why should Miles Grant know so easily? Is this a dream?
"It seems President Yates still doesn’t believe," Miles Grant laughed softly; he saw Axel Yates’ solemn expression clearly. How could Axel not care about it? It was only a matter of his dedication to the issue.
Miles Grant had known all along that Axel Yates had been probing his parents’ death cause but never had reliable information, an opportunity Miles could exploit.
He took a sip of his coffee and stood up, smilingly saying to Axel, "Initially, I wanted to help President Yates, but now it’s clear. Since you don’t trust me, there’s no point in saying more. I just hope you can find the culprit and uncover the truth soon."
Finished speaking, Miles Grant walked out without looking back, yet his smile persisted; he knew Axel Yates would take the bait.
Axel Yates sat there gravely, his face stormy; this matter had been a forbidden spot in his heart, a mission he would sacrifice anything for.
He wasn’t sure of Miles Grant’s intentions and always sensed something off about him, a hidden lurking threat.
Despite knowing Miles Grant had ulterior motives, Axel Yates couldn’t refuse; this truth had been pursued too long.
Axel Yates finally stopped Miles Grant. He turned back with the same serene smile, yet it felt chilling. What was he about? Why was he so frightening?
Since he’d stopped Miles, Axel discarded all reservations and hurriedly asked, "Who is it? Do you know?"
Axel Yates looked as if someone had hit his sore spot.
Miles Grant wasn’t quick to answer, instead teasingly delaying, laughing as he took his seat and another sip of coffee.
Axel Yates kept his eyes locked on Miles Grant, anxiety mounting as Miles showed no intent of revealing his secret, urging him, "Don’t dangle it before me; tell me now."
Miles Grant chuckled, "President Yates, don’t rush. Things worth knowing demand patience. Haste makes waste."
Facing Axel Yates’ anger, he retaliated, "Don’t think your mystery will persuade me. Maybe you know nothing at all. If you won’t say, I’ll leave."
Miles Grant saw Axel’s disbelief, upset over this revelation.
This was Miles’ final chance; he wouldn’t let it slip easily. To exact revenge on Landon Lawson and Sienna Quinn, Axel was his only resource.
With that, Miles stopped teasing, continuing, "Based on my findings, the incident years ago—your father—the culprit isn’t someone distant, but close to you. You’ve investigated for years, haven’t you?"
Axel Yates, intrigued by Miles’ directness, asked, "Who is it? Someone close?"
Miles Grant smirked, "Want to know? Think deep about your closest friend. A friend who would take the hit for you."
Axel suddenly felt uneasy; the day’s revelations overwhelmed him. His father’s murderer was close, unknowingly.
Observing Miles, he realized, his friend’s betrayal all these years had been hidden from him.
Frustrated, Axel Yates demanded, "Who? Stop beating around the bush, tell me!"
Seeing Axel’s growing agitation, Miles knew revealing the truth would unleash his pent-up rage. This was the perfect moment.
