I Killed The Main Characters Chapter 118

In the dim, candle-lit silence of the magic research tower.

Maya's body floated, suspended within the love-shaped magic circle etched into the floor.

Her unconscious form hovered just above the ground, her limbs loose, and her head lolled to one side, the pale glow of the magic circle casting her in a ghostly light.

Suddenly, a tremor rippled through her, a low, pulsating surge of energy that seemed to come from deep within.

Her eyes shot open, blank and empty, as an immense force built around her, twisting and churning like a storm contained.

Then, with a sonic click that sounded like the crack of breaking glass, a torrent of dark, swirling spirits burst forth, spiraling around her in a whirlwind of shadowed wraiths.

The pressure wave that followed detonated outward in a dark purple blast, knocking Professor Jacob backward with ferocious force.

He flew back, slamming hard against the stone wall, his head cracking against the rough surface.

Blood trickled down his forehead as his vision blurred, but he fought to stay conscious, gripping onto his awareness with a ferocity that matched the intensity of his lifelong obsession.

Slowly, he raised his head, blinking through the daze and the pain, as his eyes adjusted to the sight above him.

Through the shattered remains of the tower's roof, a figure descended, cloaked in an aura of black flames that curled and licked at the air around her like a dark halo.

The body was ethereal, untouched by the shadows that spiraled around it.

She was draped in simple white garments that clung gracefully to her form, emphasizing the smooth, elegant lines of her body.

Her legs, bare and smooth, hovered just above the ground, and her bare feet floated delicately beneath her.

Her arms, equally bare, were held out to her sides in a gesture of serene acceptance.

Her hair cascaded down in waves of pure gold, framing a face so beautiful and serene that it seemed otherworldly.

And then her eyes opened—stunning blue, as vibrant as a summer sky yet cold as winter's frost, gazing into the empty space before her.

Professor Jacob's breath hitched, his heart thundering as he recognized the face he had longed to see for so many years.

He had brought her back.

He coughed, the metallic taste of blood filling his mouth as he whispered hoarsely.

"Finally... I did it."

His voice trembled, disbelief mingling with triumph as he opened his arms, stretching them toward her, a broken smile forming on his lips.

The figure, his lost lover, mirrored his gesture, her own arms extending as she glided closer, her ethereal form drifting toward him.

Amy's body felt like lead as she tried to steady her gaze on the figure standing before her.

His hair was a familiar shade of jet-black, parted smoothly, framing eyes that glowed a fierce, unnatural yellow.

An intense wave of dread washed over her, sending her heart pounding in her chest despite her attempt to retain her poise.

She couldn't believe it, yet there he was.

Her mind spun back to that dark incident—a memory she had tried hard to forget—where Noah had nearly transcended human limits, becoming a being that embodied terror itself.

She had witnessed his transformation, the strength, and the fear he inspired, but this time, something was different.

The aura around him felt colder, sharper, as though he had returned from beyond, bringing something twisted and sinister with him.

Was it the same power that had gripped him before?

And why did her stomach twist with an unfamiliar fear?

She forced herself to stifle it.

"W-why am I… afraid?"

She muttered under her breath, defiant and trying to convince herself.

She narrowed her eyes, fixing them back on him.

Noah Ashbourne—a name she had heard whispered throughout the academy corridors countless times.

The man who'd challenged her authority, who'd had the audacity to stand between her and the glory she craved.

And yet, she had gotten rid of him, hadn't she?

She had orchestrated his expulsion, an achievement she'd taken pride in, even if it was partially under Liliana's orders.

Removing Noah had served her goals, advancing her closer to her father's approval and the respect she deserved.

His absence meant the path to recognition and status would be hers alone.

But how was he standing here now?

Amy drew herself up, forcing her voice to sound confident despite the tremor threatening to betray her.

"You—how are you still here?"

Her tone sharpened as she took a step back, her pulse quickening.

"You're banned from the academy grounds....

This is a severe offense!"

Her voice took on a haughty edge, as she launched into a tirade to mask her fear.

"In fact, just being here after expulsion... it's not only a violation of the academy's laws but also the Empire's.

Dark magic use only makes it worse.

This could have you—"

Before she could finish her thought, a sharp pain shot through her throat, cutting her words off mid-sentence.

Her hand flew to her neck, and her eyes widened as her fingers touched a small shard of ice lodged just above her collarbone.

A perfect, bullet-sized spike, thin as a needle but sharp enough to puncture her skin.

She tried to speak, but only a strained, guttural noise escaped her.

The pain was sharp, icy, and agonizing, burning as if it had embedded cold fire in her vocal cords.

Her breathing grew shallow, sweat beading on her forehead.

Panic crept in as she attempted to pull the shard out, but the more she touched it, the more intense the pain became.

Her heartbeat hammered in her ears, drowning out all rational thought.

Noah stood silently, his eyes boring into her, unblinking, as he took a slow, deliberate step forward.

His gaze was cold, devoid of the warmth or life she remembered from the past.

It was as though he were no longer even looking at her as a person but as something he intended to eliminate, to crush underfoot.

Amy stumbled back, her hand still clutching her neck, eyes wide in terror as Noah closed in on her without a word.
