"Yesterday I went to break up with him, and he demanded a one million dollar breakup fee. That was the death benefit my sister left for me! There was no way I’d give it to him, so he used a spare key to get into my apartment and secretly drugged me. That damn scumbag! He’s scum, worse than an animal! I must have been blind to have ever fallen for such a piece of trash!"
By the end, Claire Sinclair was cursing furiously, wishing she could tear the scumbag she was talking about into a million pieces.
Adrian Quincy said coldly, "I thought your taste in men was better than this. I guess I was wrong."
"Is scolding me all you know how to do?" Claire Sinclair glared at him, her shimmering eyes welling with tears, unable to hide her frustration.
Her pitifully beautiful appearance seemed to have a mysterious magic, tugging at a man’s heart.

Sensing danger, Adrian Quincy naturally averted his gaze and said in a low voice, "Illegal drug use, attempted rape, and extortion. Those two charges are enough to put him in prison, but it’s not easy to collect evidence. What proof do you have?"

Blushing, Claire Sinclair picked up her phone, unlocked it, and played a video for him.

Claire Sinclair said meekly, "A hacker friend sent it to me. To protect her privacy, I can’t tell you her identity."
Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "I’ll have someone handle this tomorrow. Whatever she asks for, give it to her if you can. That’s the fastest way to get Logan Linden convicted."
Claire Sinclair stared at his face with an expression of disbelief. "You’re actually helping me? I thought you’d just stand by and watch."
Adrian Quincy’s expression didn’t change. He remained as cold and emotionless as ever, his tone as if stating a simple fact. "Quinn died a hero’s death on that mission. Now someone wants to trample on the blood she shed. That crosses a line."
Hearing this, Claire Sinclair froze.
’This is the first time he’s ever expressed his feelings for my sister in front of me. I never thought my sister would be his bottom line. No wonder he offered to help.’
’For a moment, she was actually a little envious of her sister...’

A silence fell between them, and Claire Sinclair had nothing to say.
Before she knew it, the car had arrived at a rundown residential complex.
She had thought she could make a run for it as soon as she got out of the car, but unexpectedly, after seeing the place, Adrian Quincy got out too.
"I’ll walk you up."
"There’s no need, you’re so busy—"
"If you know I’m busy, then don’t waste my time."
With that, the man headed into the stairwell by himself.

Claire Sinclair lived on the third floor, so they arrived quickly. She took out her keys to open the door, saying, "Mr. Quincy, my place is dirty and cramped. I’d be embarrassed to host you in such a rundown apartment, so you should head back. Thank you for bringing me home..."
