I Married the President Chapter 29

Chapter 29: Chapter 29: Moving to a New Home

「The next day.」

After Claire Sinclair finished her breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Aiden Howkins showed up right on time. He explained that he was under orders to take her to her new home.

’Adrian Quincy was just speaking offhandedly last night. I didn’t think he’d actually get me a new home so quickly. I just don’t know where it is. Hopefully, it’s not in a neighborhood with exorbitant rent—I can’t afford that.’

After a drive of about ten minutes, the car stopped in the courtyard of a vintage-style villa.

Claire Sinclair got out of the car and looked around in amazement.

’If I’m not mistaken, this has to be the legendary Evergreen Garden...’

Evergreen Garden was reputed to be the safest villa community in Aethelgard. Its internal security system was the most advanced in the nation, and all its buildings were constructed with eco-friendly materials. As a result, property prices weren’t high, but the requirements to purchase one were extremely stringent—only individuals who had made major contributions to society were eligible.

In other words, the residents of Evergreen Garden were a very particular crowd, consisting of scientists, medical experts, authors, artists, athletes, and the like. They were all essentially prominent, well-known figures.

’I never imagined that someone as ordinary and untalented as me could ever get to live in a place like this,’ Claire Sinclair thought. ’Am I dreaming?’

Seeing her in a daze, Aiden Howkins walked over and said, "Young Madam, Young Master Quincy asked you to go inside and see if anything is missing. Just compile a list of what you need, and I’ll be in charge of purchasing it."

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. "You even have to handle his personal affairs for him?"

Aiden Howkins smiled. "Young Master Quincy is usually too busy to deal with such minor things. It’s my honor to be able to lighten his load."

’It just goes to show what that guy said was true: for people with a sense of mission, sacrificing personal happiness is a trivial matter.’

’Adrian Quincy probably never handles his own personal life at all. No wonder he’s so cold and impersonal.’

Claire Sinclair couldn’t be bothered trying to understand a man like that; she was more concerned about her own wallet. She asked, "This new house he found for me—did he buy it or rent it?"

’Rented?’

Aiden Howkins found her question a bit naive, but he explained patiently, "Young Madam, Young Master Quincy can certainly afford to buy a house."

’So he bought it, then...’

’That’s good. I won’t have to pay rent.’

Claire Sinclair breathed a sigh of relief. "Alright, I’ll go inside and take a look. I’ll let you know if I find anything missing."

Aiden Howkins nodded and took a bank card from his pocket. "Also, this is a bank card from Young Master Quincy for you, Young Madam. His entire monthly salary will be deposited into this card. As for the PIN, you’ll have to ask Young Master Quincy for it yourself."

’That guy is actually giving me his salary card? Isn’t he afraid I’ll squander all his money?’

’Then again, the salary for my ’job’ at Quincy Manor must be pretty high, right?’

Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but ask, "How much is his monthly salary?"

Aiden Howkins simply smiled and didn’t answer.

’I can’t tell if he doesn’t know, or if he just won’t say.’

Claire Sinclair didn’t press the issue, deciding she would text that guy and ask after she got settled in the new house.

Once inside, Claire Sinclair took a tour of her new home.

All the furniture and furnishings were in place; not a single thing was missing. The overall style was simple and understated. If she had to find a fault, it was that the place lacked a human touch.

What Claire Sinclair found most unbearable was the empty refrigerator—a form of torture for a foodie like her. She decided she would go to the supermarket herself later to stock up on some food.

She had thought about cleaning the place first, but the house was spotless. She couldn’t even find a speck of dust on the floor, which showed it had already been cleaned thoroughly and repeatedly.

With nothing else to do, Claire Sinclair unpacked her belongings. Only then did she pull out her phone and send a message to Adrian Quincy: "Mr. Quincy, are you available to take a call right now?"
