Chapter 32: Chapter 32: This Feeling Is Terrible
Adrian Quincy stared at her with dark, somber eyes, saying nothing.
’What’s with that look? It’s like he wants to eat me alive.’
A shiver went down Claire Sinclair’s spine. "I’m going upstairs to pack," she said.
With that, she tossed her instant noodle cup into the trash, picked up her laptop, and started to head upstairs.
"Stop," the man commanded in a low voice.
Claire Sinclair looked back at him. "What is it?"
’Haven’t I made myself clear enough?’
Adrian Quincy narrowed his eyes, forcing the words through gritted teeth. "Get rid of the apartment."
Claire Sinclair scoffed. "And why should I? Where I choose to live is my own business. You have no right to restrict my freedom."
"Claire Sinclair, don’t push me."
"I don’t know what your ’line’ is, and I don’t care. All I know is that I don’t want to live here anymore. If you have the guts, then lock me up. Otherwise, your threats are useless!"
With that, Claire Sinclair turned away defiantly, convinced he wouldn’t dare do anything to her.
Adrian Quincy didn’t answer. He closed the distance in a single step, snatched the laptop from her hands, and tossed it onto the sofa. Then, he grabbed her arm, forcing her to meet his gaze.
Her eyes were filled with defiance, resolve, and a hint of some unreadable emotion.
A flare of anger burned in Adrian Quincy’s chest. He suddenly raised a hand, gripping her delicate chin. He lowered his head swiftly, his lips parting as they captured hers.
’He never laid a hand on a woman who couldn’t fight back, but this foolish woman before him deserved to be punished!’
’What’s happening...?’
Claire Sinclair blinked, her mind going blank. For a moment, she had no idea how to react.
It wasn’t until he deepened the kiss that she snapped back to her senses. She shoved at him with all her might, but his powerful frame was immovable.
Infuriated, she resorted to pounding on his chest with all her strength, but his arms around her didn’t loosen in the slightest.
Gradually, she found herself getting lost in his surprisingly skillful kiss. Her hands moved on their own, wrapping around his lean waist. Her mind felt light, as if she were floating on a cloud.
’This feeling was absolutely terrible...’
The kiss lasted for what felt like an eternity.
Adrian Quincy finally released her, whispering in her ear, "I’ll be busy for a while, so it won’t be convenient for me to stay here. Don’t you go anywhere. Or else you’ll have me to answer to."
With that, he turned and left without a backward glance.
Claire Sinclair stood frozen in place. His voice was still echoing in her ear, and she could still feel the imprint of his kiss on her lips.
By the time she came to her senses, the man was gone.
Claire Sinclair walked upstairs in a daze, trying to figure out what that kiss meant.
’Why did he kiss me? And he even... used his tongue...’
’God, that’s so embarrassing.’
’At that moment, Claire’s resolve wavered. Should she change her mind about moving?’

The night passed without a dream.
Claire Sinclair wasn’t one to sleep in. She woke up early, skipped breakfast, and started packing.
After a night of deliberation, she’d come to a decision.
Other than two kisses, there was no real emotional foundation between her and Adrian Quincy. If she stayed, she would only grow more dependent on him.
After her disastrous relationship with that complete scumbag, she was terrified of relying on a man again. A girl who doesn’t learn to be independent is bound to get hurt in the long run.
So, moving out was a must.
It took her half an hour to finish packing. Just as she was about to call a taxi, her phone suddenly rang.
The caller ID read: Adrian Quincy.
Claire’s heart gave an involuntary lurch. She answered the call. "Hello?"
"Don’t you dare move out!"
