I Married the President Chapter 6

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: Scammed

"Good, good..." The old man kept repeating, then his eyes drifted shut.

Thankfully, he was only asleep.

Fearing he might disturb the old man, Adrian Quincy hustled the girl out of the room and down to the end of the hallway.

Claire Sinclair immediately erupted. "Mr. Quincy, if you’re just doing this to fulfill your grandfather’s wish, I can play along, but you have to respect me! Shoving your tongue down someone’s throat—don’t you find that disgusting?"

The man seemed not to hear her complaint, saying nonchalantly, "The doctors have already put Grandpa in critical condition. He might not make it through the month. If you’re not busy, you can come to the hospital more often to keep him company."

"He’s *your* grandfather. Why don’t you come yourself?"

"I’ll come when I have time."

In other words, he was too busy.

Claire Sinclair scoffed. "You’re so insincere."

Adrian Quincy was unconcerned. "If you run into any trouble in the future, bring the marriage certificate and come find me at Quincy Manor."

"Huh?" Claire Sinclair was dumbfounded.

’Q-Quincy Manor?’

That was the place her sister worked before she died—the residence of Aridia’s founding Grand Marshal, Jack Quincy. The foreign media also referred to Quincy Manor as the seat of the Quincy Clan.

It was worth noting that in the hundred years since the nation’s founding, the Quincy Clan had produced countless distinguished cabinet members. Moreover, the talents their family fostered were all incredibly formidable, and for unknown reasons, their heroic deeds were only ever announced posthumously.

In other words, the more mysterious a descendant of the Quincy Family was, the more dangerous their situation...

Shit!

’No wonder my sister died so young! She was probably killed by Adrian Quincy’s enemies!’

At this thought, Claire Sinclair couldn’t stop herself from asking, "Mr. Quincy, I want to know the truth about my sister’s death two years ago."

Adrian Quincy’s expression was blank. "I’m sorry. That matter is classified. You have no right to inquire."

’Classified my ass!’

"I don’t care! My sister’s mysterious death was definitely because she was involved with you! Your whole family is a magnet for danger! I want nothing to do with you. Let’s go get a divorce, now!"

At her words, the man’s brow furrowed slightly. "If you’re afraid of dying, then learn to behave. Don’t cause trouble for me out there."

"Is there something wrong with you? I said I want a divorce!"

’Wait, something’s not right about how this is playing out!’

It dawned on Claire Sinclair a moment too late. She quickly changed her tune. "Mr. Quincy, what do you mean? Didn’t we agree to get a divorce before we came here? Are you trying to go back on your word?"

Adrian Quincy said in a low voice, "I have urgent business to attend to. We’ll talk about the divorce another day."

"Y-You really are going back on your word!"

’Suddenly, Claire Sinclair felt like a complete idiot!’

’He’d played her. Wasn’t it completely obvious?!’

Adrian Quincy stared deeply at the girl’s pretty, flustered face. "You are my wife now," he reminded her. "Be mindful of your status and your image when you’re in public."

"I am not—"

Before Claire Sinclair could protest, Adrian Quincy turned and ordered, "Aiden Howkins, take her home."

Hearing the name, Claire Sinclair subconsciously glanced back.

’So the leader of the group that barged into the hotel and kidnapped her was named Aiden Howkins.’

’Just how narcissistic do you have to be to pick such a cocky-sounding name?’

Aiden Howkins walked over and gestured for her to proceed. "Young Madam, if you please."

’To hell with your "Young Madam"!’

Claire Sinclair didn’t budge. "I’m not going back! I want a divorce!"

Adrian Quincy turned and walked away, completely ignoring her.

Stomping her foot in frustration, Claire Sinclair tried to follow him, but Aiden Howkins blocked her path. "Young Madam, Young Master Quincy has official duties to attend to. I’m afraid he won’t have any more time to get a divorce with you today."
